Izuno Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 Just got a new Macbook Pro because I needed a new laptop for consulting work. Using Apple's bootcamp, I partitioned the drive roughly in half and loaded XP Pro SP2 on the other partition. So far it seems to run Windows better than my desktop. I haven't loaded any games yet, but from what I hear it runs HL2 amazingly. For now, it runs some database software flawlessly, stuff that has a lot of multidimensional math calculations. Once I get steam on it I'll try out HL2 and the SDK, Hammer etc and report back. Truly awesome stuff! Quote
Mazy Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 Aye, there is definitely no doubt left in my mind if I have to get myself a laptop anymore. Bootcamp pretty much elimated all the small annoyance (No PC games, whaaaaa) and left the good shit (App0l shit ). But cool shit~~ Quote
Fletch Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 Apparently OS X limits the full power of the on baord graphics card to prevent heat issues, but Windows does no such thing, so people have been reporting getting amazing speed out of WoW on the XP partition and only decent speed on the OS X side. Yeah, my next computer is probably going to be a Mac. Quote
Polaris Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 Who would a thunk it . Windows and Mac = good combination? :0 Quote

dissonance Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 word. but if it were me, i'd partition it and run osx/ubuntu. the only thing i don't like about macs is the restrictiveness of the hardware. Quote
