Orange hossies on the loading screen, colts with scopes and a 33.6k modem. How I hated the Dutch folks at the time, with their fat DSL connections and sub 50ms ping, while I was sitting around 200ms and getting boned by my ISPs policy of auto disconnecting you every 2 hours.

Beta 1 playing cs_mansion trying to figure out which type of ammo went with which gun.

I started out with beta 3 back in late 99 or early 2000. For the first few weeks I only played it at a mates house where they had a network setup between two comps. Before that I had never gamed over LAN or internet before, so it it was both a new game and a new way of playing.

I still consider beta 7.2 with it's driveable APC in Siege and such to be the best CS version. Since then it just went downhill or at least I got bored of it.

Ugggg, drivable vehicles. The only joy I'd get out of those is the fact that stupid CTs would spend so long filling up the APC that it wuold give me time to hide outside with a auto-shotty and HE Grenade. Wait for 'em to drive by, toss in the nade, and then do a run by after it goes off. My record to this day is still getting 6 kills in under 3 seconds doing that.

I miss Siege.

I can't remember when i started, voted 5 years but it might be even more. First map i played was cs_747, i tried it at my friend and i pretty much didn't know what to do. I remember that i killed 2 guys with usp at my first round tho, i was so proud of myself.
