Spinlock Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 http://ndnuked.blogspot.com/ I knew DaveL was full of himself, but this crap? C'mon... Quote
Pericolos0 Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 more mods have done this you know... professional companies do it too... it called PR, however, it makes me sad that a mod feels like this is the right way to do it Modding should be about just building a fun game with cool people, the fun of game creation, not about fighting PR wars and trying to be the best Quote
⌐■_■ Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 I don't really see how this is so bad. And not because they might not be the only one doing this. Compare it to a plate of delicious food. The way it's made up adds to your conception of taste. So, as long as the team doesn't disappoint, I don't see any reason to condemn it. However, I'd like to see real images also but I don't think thats anything demandable since it's just a mod and stuff. Theryby, how can you condemn it without having played the original version, when it's brought out? Quote
The Postman Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 I fucking knew that was a go-nowhere project. DaveL is a gigantic douchebag to boot. I feel sorry for the people that spent time on it, but not his stupendous ego. Quote
Section_Ei8ht Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 I think this guy is over-reacting. Everyone does this these days. The most important thing is that everyone who has their work featured on this magazine now has something really kick-ass and impressive to put in their portfolios. Who cares if the mod never comes out or is only x far along at time t. Even if the mod becomes vaporware, everyone who worked on it got something out of it. Whoever made those models and levels can now say "My work was in a frontpage article in CGW". [sarcasm] Cry me a river over some photoshopped "in-game" screenshots, because god knows nobody on these forums has any idea what a Sharpen Filter is. [/sarcasm] Quote

I just think DaveL is a gigantic fucking twat. He runs his mod in the worst, most corporate, least fun way imaginable. I swear to god he sacrificed some orphans to even get people interested in the idea to begin with. The guys have portfolio pieces but it's always depressing to work on something and have it never release. Quote
Sa74n Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 how do you know, postman? i dont think one should pull down a whole project where there are 15+ people putting their time into making a game (or anything else) just because you're pissed on one of them. its childish (then again that is my own opinion). and what did he do to you? ND is everything but a vaporwave. Quote
KungFuSquirrel Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 Dammit, I was just going to look back at my old chat logs with him from a couple years ago and now I might have up and deleted them by accident moving everything to my new computer... Shame. Quote
curman Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 people are just over-reacting. no one forced anyone to work on ND. and postman, did you ever contact DaveL or something? cause it seems like your being childish to throw insults at the guy. Quote
sensee Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 I thought only hl2world.com toddlers make fake screenshots with garry modded models. For god's sake you're not gonna sell that thing, so why do you guys need such cheesy PR? Why does a mod need PR anyways? This is crap just like the whole NDA thing mod teams have. What's next? Having a "marketing department" or a "human resources department"? Quote
Minos Posted June 3, 2006 Report Posted June 3, 2006 humm I don't know... If this is true it's a shame cause they are bullshitting not only the mag but everyone who bought it. I doubt their models aren't animated though... Otherwise they wouldn't start a beta test, they would look ridiculous to their testers. I have quite a few logs with dave btw... if anyone is interested paypal me 20 bucks and the fun is guaranteed! Quote
curman Posted June 3, 2006 Report Posted June 3, 2006 i wish someone would just post some logs with DaveL talking Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted June 3, 2006 Report Posted June 3, 2006 i searched my mapcore log which its about 3 years old and he has maybe 20 lines of talking, with 10 of them being smilies. there's nothing there however i found this funny: [04] [curman] It's DaveL! The creator of de_dust and de_dust2. [04] [DaveL] no it isn't, that would be DaveJ [04] [curman] No. [04] [curman] It's you. Quote
