TorQueMoD Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 This isn't really a WIP post, but I couldn't see where else to put this... Has anyone else run into a weird glitch with Hammer where the prop models and player spawn models etc. are completely distorted and broken in the 3D view? It seems to happen intermitantly every few times I load Hammer. And most importantly, anyone know why this happens or how to stop it?
Gaz Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 That happens on a friends card, they have an ATI, I have nVidia and no problems
Zacker Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 I have seen quite a lot of wierd Source problems and I also remember to have seen this once or twice, not a common problem for me though.
insta Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 I'm pretty sure it's because of the last Steam update. Nothing to do except wait for the next update.
TorQueMoD Posted May 27, 2006 Author Report Posted May 27, 2006 Yeah, I figured that might be the reason cause it didn't start happening until the last update. Thanks!
teeluu Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Yes, it's because of the update, can't do nothing untill a new update i believe. One of the reasons i hate steam, we get shitloads of updates with something or everything totally *ucked up. Hope we have a change to this soon.
BlueCoatKarma Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Yeah, I have an ATI card and I'm getting this too.
Izuno Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 i have ATI card...yep...getting it too. hope this is bugged with valve!
Sa74n Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 just make a shortcut to hammer on your desktop and add -dxlevel 80 to the command parameters. that'll be a nice work around.. same for modelviewer. oh and dont forget to start steam anyway
Izuno Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 hmm...tried that...still getting the same errors.
Low Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 Yeah, I'm fairly certain it has something to do with ATI cards. My computer has a nvidia card and I haven't run into this problem. Then just the other day I was trying some mapping on my friends computer who has an ATI card and I got the same problem. I thought it was quite strange at the time but apparently several other people have the same problem.
Furyo Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 The dx8 fix works for me, and I have upgraded my ati drivers when Episode I was released. Maybe that's the soft spot too. This is the wiki page about this problem: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SDK_workaround
Izuno Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 ok it's working for me. had a problem with a shortcut, but fixed it so it's all good.
hamst3r Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Yep, I have an ATI card and all my models are "shattered", gonna try the work around in a lil` bit...
