Quakis Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 I have two steam problems that I cannot figure how to fix them and they're really bugging me. However, they have started to do so after installing the Friends Beta. First Problem: After playing a source game and quitting, once trying to open another game for source - it the says that the game is no longer for free. And then has (preloading) next to Half Life 2. I have to restart steam to reset this and it gets seriously annoying when I must do so - and my copy of HL2 is legit too, I never had this problem before. Second Problem: When taking screenshots in a source game, sometimes I get pure black images. This one is a serious pain, because I want to get working on a comic series in Gmod. This is really annoying, especially when I pose the scene. I wish to take my screenshots in the highest settings so that my comics look presentable and good looking. Sometimes the screenshots work, sometimes they don't. I've tried doing it via single and multiplayer but still the same effect each time. Maybe this is the problem with my computer because it can't handle this setting for too long though and I have to switch between medium and high. My specs are: 1GB Ram, 1.33GHz and Radeon 9800 GFX Card. But the thing that bugs me is, this has never happened before either. Any help is apprieciated. If you need any more information, please specify and I'll gladly give it as best I can. Thanks! Quote
D3ads Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 1) No idea. 2) Running HL2 on the highest settings on a 1.33GHZ machine wont be helping your cause, it probably can't read the information fast enough. Quote
JamesL Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 I have been getting the first problem since the last Steam update. No idea why. I have to restart steam to fix it. Quote
skdr Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 1) It's a known problem and will be fixed soon. 2) You might want to use some screenshot capture program in this case. It might be caused by high resolutions. Quote
Quakis Posted May 26, 2006 Author Report Posted May 26, 2006 Thanks for the replies. Guess I'll put up with the first problem then. I'll try a screenshot capture program and see if that helps. Quote
