[WIP]: [CS:S] de_shrooms (not psycadelic) **update**

Ive been working on this map for about 2 days now almost nonstop, yes its a map of my school (Crooms) for Counter-Strike: Source

Screenshots of what i have so far:

as you can see, the front doors arent attached to the building yet

The building is going to look like it's abanonded and in one of the science class rooms there will be a drug/weapons stash (bomb site). So not all rooms are going to be open because thats alot of work and to much for a cs map.

i havent started on the roof, and there are no textures/props/zones/lighting yet

this is just the main brushes of the building.

ah when I clicked this thread I was expecting to see some psychedelic map filled with mushrooms and acid :(

Not much to comment on though. Maybe if you get proper textured and lit ingame screenies...

eh, yea the name isnt final, im thinking about changing it. its shrooms because thats our school's nick name since it rhymes :P crooms - shrooms

but yea, ill have more SS's when i get further

vote against school maps!

btw: if you post stuff maybe you should make sure, that it is worth to show. this is far from "showable". there are no textures, all is hammer brushed, no lighting. there is even no sense. schoolmaps suck in gameplay. they always did. how do you imagine a good gameflow in a map with so many rooms? btw: your polycounts of the map will explode. crappy visblocking too.

dont waste another day on this map and start a real project like de_INSERT_COUNTRY_NAME

while you're free to make a school map, it's just really poor taste. regardlress of how successful/unsuccessful your map is, it just takes one idiot like Jack Thompson sniffing it out and distorting it against the industry.

Just a warning. You've got a nice looking layout, so just make it an office building or something instead.

schools are a heated topic for levels, especially violent based ones. And you dont find a school often that would be suitable for a good counterstrike level in terms of flow and gameplay anyways. I'd suggest making something else, just my two cents.

Actually DD made a map like that. It landed him a job at gearbox

Schools, offices, arab villages, mosques or grocery stores, its as heated as you make it.

Who cares if he is making a school. Let the wimpy people in the world complain and flame and bitch!!

Depending on the school, but the majority of the one I went to if they were built for gameplay they would be so much fun and flow perfectly with all the ways in and out of the building they had. A good shoot out in the gym, you can't beat that!! :twisted:

From what I can see I have to say I like the layout! It looks fun yet, with enough landmarks very manouvreable (< is that a word?). As for the 'school theme': I say; stick with it. I like the idea and the fact that its a heated topic shouldn't change anything. Not to start an offtopic discussion but I'd say that it's rather hypocrit to say it's disrespectful to make a school themed map. I mean, we're talking cs here man! For crying out loud... Plus the fact youre just a amature leveldesigner, not a big developementstudio. ;)
