Pericolos0 Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 The best platformer ever made just got a sequel for the nintendo DS... even better, they kept the art style pretty much thesame! I have always loved the look of yoshi's island and this is just more of that goodness . I definiately am getting a DS lite now when its out in europe... screens: also out of nowhere, another platformer: SUPER PAPER MARIO no more rpg stuff It feels like there is a 2d platform renaissance going on. This game breathes miyamoto's style of controlled insanity. HOLY SHIT you can turn into a huge sprite and go on a godzilla like rampage this style is completely awesome, check out the math clouds check out the video and convince yourself http://media.cube.gamespy.com/media/827 ... ids_1.html :mario: This game will be for gamecube, but if you do not have a gamecube, then its a reason more to get a nintendo wii... it'll play gamecube games too oh yes and theres also ANOTHER 2D platform mario game coming out for DS. God i want a DS now Quote
mabufo Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 that super paper mario actually looks alright... interesting take on an old style of game. Quote

ReNo Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 I guess there must be something wrong with me, as I don't see the appeal at all. Quote

Thrik Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 I guess there must be something wrong with me, as I don't see the appeal at all. The best platformer ever made just got a sequel Funnily enough, it isn't just the graphics that led to that statement. Quote
ReNo Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 But you can deduce more than the graphics from a set of screenshots and a trailer I'm just not really into the whole retro style gaming personally. Quote
Pericolos0 Posted May 14, 2006 Author Report Posted May 14, 2006 I guess there must be something wrong with me, as I don't see the appeal at all. it's obvious you never played yoshi's island. I played this the first time well after the snes days on an emulator, because i never had a snes when it was out. The graphics and gameplay are amazing. Everything in this game is pretty much done perfectly, everything blends together so well. the art style is unique in that it looks like its drawn with crayons. It used 3D elements in the 2D platform enviroment to create unique gameplay (remember this is a snes game). The graphics are beautiful and no more than they should be, so i'm very happy they stayed with its style for yoshi's island 2. The gameplay felt like mario and kirby combined perfectly, and it seems like they sticked with that too. really you have to convince yourself and just check out yoshi's island, you will understand the appeal Quote
