Bluestrike Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 http://www.theshiponline.com/index.php Sounds like some unique gameplay but like everything else I rather wait for reviews and possebly demo :-) *edit* is not a mod but a standalone game that started as a mod Quote

-Stratesiz- Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 Hmmm not bad... I would like to say a thing or two about more interesting ceiling structures though. Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 "Debbie Keys Environment Artist" What the hell?! a girlish level designer ? This mod already exist for HL1, that was fun for the first 30 minutes :/, but the weapons, controls and level design was crappy, dunno how the source version manage that tho. Quote
⌐■_■ Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 yeah, Reno is hired by them, yet still finnishing his uni. I don't think he'll be able to enlighten us very much. The game: I think the idea is pretty original but it somehow doesn't really appeal to me that much. I don't really like the allround 'atmosphere' I guess.. Quote
ReNo Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 Yup this is what I'm jumping into soon, but I don't start for a month yet so can't really shed much more light on it I'm afraid. As has been said, the HL1 mod was conceptually cool but obviously lacked in the art department particularly. It was made when there were only a few members on the team though, and was developed as a prototype for the gameplay, so shouldn't be judged too harshly as an actual game From what I hear, the full game for the Source engine is significantly more refined in not only visuals but also in gameplay, so it should be interesting to see whats new. Personally I dig the art style they are going with. In the HL1 mod there were a few custom character models that showed great personality (eg. the bartender), but the presence of reskinned gman models and the like really detracted from the atmosphere. This time around everything is coherent and well realised, so it should have a nice unique feel to it. From what little I saw of the game running, they look to have put a lot of effort into making the environments charming and interactive, particularly as a continuation of the old needs system from the HL1 system. By the way, they are taking beta test submissions at the moment, so if you are interested sign on up I got my form through a couple of days ago, but I'm not sure if it would be wise for me to sign up or not given the new circumstances Quote
