ginsengavenger Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 So with a couple guys getting hired recently I'm wondering how the numbers break down to these days, and I know other people are curious too. So how about you? Also feel free to speak up for guys who've gone on or don't post anymore. Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 i sort of enjoy mapping as a pastime, though i dont see it too foreseeable as a future for me, i don't enjoy it very much. Quote
ReNo Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 I've been hired but haven't started work yet (still finishing up at uni), what should I vote? Quote
Section_Ei8ht Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 I just like doing the art stuff as a pass time. If I ever end up working in the game industry, its going to be for a programming gig, but thats not what I'm striving for. Might try to get hired in the game industry post-college to see whats up, but not depending on it. Quote
ginsengavenger Posted April 25, 2006 Author Report Posted April 25, 2006 Reno you're hired, option one~ Myself, I'm working at Factor 5 and while it's not all tea and biscuits I'm having a great time there. Speaking for a couple of friends, CompoSITe is working at Infinity Ward and ILLA is with a company in his home country of Croatia whose name escapes me at the moment.. Quote
Pericolos0 Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 working at Khaeon with Hourences, loving every bit of it so far Quote
Skjalg Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 Khaen? the http://www.khaeon.nl/ site didn't say much... Who/what is it? Quote
JamesL Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 My 6th year and third employer in the industry. Started at an independent for a seriously shite salary, just to get my foot in the door, then worked up from there. My (unsolicited) advice to anyone wanting to get into games dev, is to simply take whatever you can get to start with. Just get in and start working on games. If you have a talent you'll soon get noticed. Quote
JAL Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 I'm not working in the industry but I'm aiming/hoping to get a job with games after I finish my studies Quote
D3ads Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 I keep changing my mind about getting hired, I realise if I want to be snapped up I have move with the times and work with new technology, so that puts me off as I like to stick with HL for now. At the moment I'm quite happy just doing a crappy job and using my spare time to work on stuff for fun. Quote
st0lve Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 I hang out with the chicks But hopefully, some day.. I'll be atleast a cleaner at some game dev. (yes I voted the chick option) Quote
Zacker Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 Not hired yet, but I really hope that I will be one day:) Maybe applying for positions would help... Quote
