zaphod Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 dang, some of these bring back some memories *tear* Quote
Thrik Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 Was it the one with the lighthouse? I remember the map, but not the name. I think so, yes. xD Quote
JamesL Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 The 1.6 map with the lighthouse that I remember was called de_gower by Clay9 and possibly some other folks. Great map. Edit: Apologies Ginsengavenger, googled it n noticed your name in the credits too. Quote
Polaris Posted April 27, 2006 Author Report Posted April 27, 2006 Another one by Mazy: A warehouse that looks good? Quote
D3ads Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 de_volare ts_bikini The latter of which blew me away the first time I saw it, lovely map Quote
Pericolos0 Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 dear god volare looks unimpressive now Quote
D3ads Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 dear god volare looks unimpressive now It's over three years old now I think Quote
JamesL Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 I was just thinking the same thing. I was amazed at what had been done with the HL1 engine on first seeing Volare. It's dated waaay quickly though. Quote
Mazy Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 Yup, Volare hasn’t aged very well D: But still, it has some quite neat locations, really impressed me back then. Especially the waterfall ILLA did for it was amazing (Or was it Simsalabim that did those textures?). Also all mike's maps are totally amazing (With the exception of Survivor, which never did anything for me, and sadly that was the official one in CS D:) Quote
Erratic Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 I was trying to find a pic of Volare but I just couldn't remember the name. I think it still looks pretty good... Quote
mawibse Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 I think Volare had one of the coolest CS Spawns ever. And in Volares defence, the brushwork looks blocky now but is really really close to what the HL1 engine can handle. Add two brushes to the map and it won't compile. Oh and whats up with the skybox in the ts_bikini shot? Quote
JAL Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 ts_bikini blew me away when it was released. Especially the water texture in the pool and the fact it looked so realistic. Quote
OrnateBaboon Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 de_karachi. When I first knew about mapping, I started to look for custom maps. This blew me away. Not only looks great, but is very, very playable. Varied and atmospheric. I dream of a source version. http://csm2.net/view_map.php?map_id=821 Also de_bahrain, which is the only map I have played that has 3 bomb spots that actually work. Brilliant use of wav's. http://csm2.net/view_map.php?map_id=692 Quote
JamesL Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 Yeah Karachi is a fantastically good fun map to play, all those different routes yet still a reasonably tight, navigable map. That's a map that needs re-making for source if ever there was one. Quote
D3ads Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 Oh and whats up with the skybox in the ts_bikini shot? Only decent shot I could find and it was missing the right skybox sadly, I forgot what Mike's site is and Google didn't help me Quote
