KungFuSquirrel Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 Hey, that's one of the things I actually kinda built for NW... tommyd finished it off though; I never was happy with any of it... he did good things for it. I'll also have to tell Method he got some love here. Quote
Mazy Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 Awww thanks guys Anyway might be quite old but DavidM did some maps for UT that really blew me away at the time (back in 2000-2001'ish) Some more http://www.mazy.net/pictures/forums/pah4.jpg http://www.mazy.net/pictures/forums/pah2.jpg Some more http://www.mazy.net/pictures/forums/roon2.jpg http://www.mazy.net/pictures/forums/roon3.jpg Hardly impressive today but it really made a huge impression on me back then, certainly made me aware of how awesome vertical action can be~ And sorry if I'm going in a bit different direction than the thread suggested, just remembered these maps and got all nostalgic ;D Also KFS's NS maps made me really mad at times when I tried to do something better myself, so fckn awesome Quote
KungFuSquirrel Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 That's ok, because this structure trumped any of my bits. Seriously, that's the sort of shape I had really been aiming for with the Eclipse triad initially, but never could nail it. Hmm... re-invisioning of the triad to match this sort of style plus implemented on the d3 engine in some way... HOTNESS. Quote
Polaris Posted April 22, 2006 Author Report Posted April 22, 2006 And sorry if I'm going in a bit different direction than the thread suggested, just remembered these maps and got all nostalgic ;D No worries, just post maps that left a strong impression on you, or you loved back in the day or stuff that you just think looks cool, whatever! Minos Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 ok here we go again de_morningstar: I always was a fan of blaz and I specially love morningstar. It's huge and it's got lots of environments variety. de_sampa: The map that got me into mapping. cs_office: I always loved office/clean themed maps and this one is my favourite official map. Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 i loved the really early version of office when it had that hallway on the far left and the fire escape door Quote
hamst3r Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 There are so many but this was probally the one that had the most effect on me. This is called "The Lava Tube by the GiMp" and it is an action quake 2 map. That was all the info on the map I could find on the map and the author. This was pretty much the reason I got into mapping. Quote
st0lve Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 Vendetta? Its not from the original poke646 right? Quote

Thrik Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 thx i almost forgot what it looked like Quote
Thrik Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 I was really impressed by that map Unreal did a few years ago, but I can't remember the name of it or where to look for pics. It looked similar to Kraftstoff that made it into DOD, but wasn't Kraftstoff. It was still for DOD, though, and I don't think it was ever released. Someone must know what I mean. Quote
