Seems completely reasonable to me. Garry has put loads and loads of time into the mod, and from what I understand he was ready to just pack it all in and let it die. Instead, he's willing to continue — if he gets a little payback for his hard work.

I guess it's about making a choice between the mod being left to go stale and ultimately become incompatible with Source (this has happened before, and without continued development it'd be dead already), or continue being developed for a small price. Which is preferred?

wtf? I gotta pay for garry's mod, now? It wasnt even that cool before.

That's pretty much my opinion, really what is worth even 10 dollars of Garry's mod?

Lets see:

-Screenshots of the gman bending over alyx.

-For mods to fake screenshots.

-Roleplayers took it over to be dumb in like in The Specialists.

I don't see it at all being worth a cent, I think it's going to be a grand upset in profits.

i think its a pretty fair price for what you get. i mean you can do a hell of a lot of things at the click of a few buttons with gary's mod that would take a lot more effort without it... depends on what you want to use it for what makes the price acceptable...

I think it is totally ok! I am no fan of Garrys mod and I will never buy it, but I can't see why anyone should have anything against that he tries to sell it. To me it just sounds fair that he wants a bit of money for the hard work he does.

The new financial model where they get an engine license without paying for it is a very interesting thing for indie developers. It should make it much easier to sell an indie game now where you don't have to spend so much money on being an engine license.

I haven't checked the mod out (even tough I have one of the latest versions installed) it just doesn't seem to apeal that much to me.

If there are people what think its worth the few 10$ sure why not.

But perhaps Steam was better off with some sort of donation system as well for sertain mods, or pretty soon everybody what puts together a singleplayer is gonna charge for it.

And modding becomes a greedy money bisness ? :-)
