Bic-B@ll Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 just pause the video and wait for it all to load and then play it Quote
IR Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 It's mighty impressive, though I showed some of the screens at work and gfx artists were picking on every little bit they could, claiming it was most likely BiA 2 assets that hadn't been reworked yet. If what they're saying holds any water, I just can't wait to see the final product. what their saying is mostlikly bs, and i could fill in why but theres no need. it looks great gj gb Quote
MrH2o Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Id hit it....the babe that is...anyway I dont trust the video att all, just look at the "3d marker" when he commands the troops, Its not real I can tell you that, its shaking after he ordered the command. I don't doubth this game will look cool, but releasing un finished stuff with CGi is stupid....oh one more thing, that shirt Pitchford have could have killed a whole division of germans Quote
sensee Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 The second time when the "player" gives a command, the arm is waving before the marker appears. It's not as bad as Killzone2 and I'm sure many studios retouch their videos/screenshots when the game is not done yet, but still it feels a little bit cheap and fake. I'd like to hear a comment from the gearbox guys though. Maybe I'm getting it all wrong. Quote
mikezilla Posted May 2, 2006 Author Report Posted May 2, 2006 I'll do the best I can. I'll say wait for E3 first of all, but second I'll post Randy's response from the Gearbox website about this particular video. At E3 we're demoing live, we'll be playing it for an audience with a controller. A lot of the early stuff we've shown, starting at the Gearbox Liberation Party last year and even heading into today, is from earlier source and partially finished or unfinalized content - proof of concept assets, proof of concept game play footage, proof of concept technology, etc. There are a lot of aspects to development of this game - a lot of people are involved and a lot of complex work is spread out among them. Because of that, you may notice some differences and notice things changing in the stuff that is released as the game development continues. That's natural and even cool to see the different things going on as we make the game. For example: The footage on IGN is using stuff that was developed using similar assets and techniques that were used in the proof of concept video we showed at the Liberation Party, but not all of those assets match exactly where the game is today and what will be shown in the E3 demo. General Vivi Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 damn i wish i could go to E3 . I will next year . at least i hope so ^_^ Quote
Izuno Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 Well I saw it up close today (thanks Mike for letting me cut the line.) The monitor was HUGE so it actually showed TOO much to be sitting that close, so you could see the pixels, which is a bit ironic because it still is a great looking game. MUCH more importantly, the feel of tension was clearly there. If you are looking for the closest match to the "Band of Brothers" characters/drama in the small moments of WWII, this game delivers better than anything to date, and there have been MANY WWII games. think that's important because you get a sense of character in the soldiers. I saw the demo twice in a row (again, thanks Mike...oh and Mike ran the demo both times) and while I can't say I got to know individual characters I can say that your comrades feel much more human in their simple dialogue, gestures etc than just about all games I've seen. It's these little moments of flavor that remind you that these guys are human beings. Did I get some big emotional connection with the NPCs while watching the demo? No. But it effectively laid the groundwork for it, much more than most other games. This game is a smart, good step in the right direction. I'm not trying to giz Gearbox love, I'm saying that Gearbox's goal of personalizing the experience of war though humanized NPCs is the best yet in HH. I only saw a 10 minute demo, so I cannot comment on the entire game, but if the rest of the game carries the same spirit, then I trust that the game is going to deliver. Mike and I talked for a bit after, and he has that passion for what he's doing so I know it will deliver. I also got to meet Randy very briefly, but I could tell he had such joy presenting the game that was very distinct from the "respect my l337ness" attitude so many industry pros have. Anyway, to wrap up this fuzzy post, this is a game that we should pay attention to for those little things about the NPCs that immerse you in a whole world. Oh, gameplay feels more evolved too. Quote
