skdr Posted April 7, 2006 Author Report Posted April 7, 2006 Just purchased and now downloading Sin 1 and Sin 1 Multiplayer, oh joy! Quote
D3ads Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 Is this going to be in the shops? I never played SIN 1 so it'll be cool to play that through Quote
Bluestrike Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 I'll wait for the review in my favorite gameasmagazine for now, Don't like the sound of episodic really. Who cares is it looks like HL2 (or not) as long as its fun and makes a littlebit of sence. Anyway I'm probebly not interested I wait for episode 1 even tough I wonder if its gonna be worth its money as well. I expect some new things besides more story but I'm wandering off now . Quote
mikezilla Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 i'm also sort of lol about them announcing 9 episodes at 20 bucks a piece. Hello 180 dollar game. Quote
KungFuSquirrel Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 Eh, 3 episodes is (supposedly) equivalent to 1 full game, then 3 'games' in the full series... Doesn't seem unreasonably out of the ballpark to me. Quote
Tequila Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 I don't think cynical mathematics work here, Mike. If £12 nets me 5-6 hours of quality gameplay, then I don't see the harm. Whether it delivers remains to be seen, however. Quote
mikezilla Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 its not cynical mathematics. if a normal studio can make a normal 10-15 hours game in a few years, a SMALLER studio can't churn out the same quality for 5 times the content. What it is- is a scam. So much filler it'll make your eyeballs bleed. But hey, it's your money. Quote
ginsengavenger Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 That's the beauty of an episodic game - you buy one episode, get the gist and if it's not your cup of tea you don't have to buy the rest Maybe they make significant engine improvements or redirect the course of the game later down the line, fine then it's your choice to opt back in and buy another episode or two. But the whole point is it benefits the consumer because you can choose to buy as much as you want. Quote
Skjalg Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 the day sin is released, if everyone on #mapcore go "OMFG LOLOOLO THIS GAME IS SOOOO DAMN GOOOOOD!!!!!!" (in a non-sarcastic manner). And Mazy buys it, writes a review and gives it 3~5 out of 5 georfs, then i'll buy it. Quote

Fair enough. Quote
alexroyce Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 If the reviewers say its good, I might get it. Otherwise ill just stick with my old copy of SiN Quote
PhilipK Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 well can't preorder it anyway so meh... why dont they just fix their site n stuff.. Quote
ReNo Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 There was a steam update the said it fixed an issue with some people not being able to preorder or something I think. Didn't really bother looking into it, as I didn't have any trouble preorder/preloading it myself. I'm not sure if its gonna be any good or not, but figure that for £12 or whatever it came out at, its worth a shot at least. Quote
PhilipK Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 Yeah I read that too but it sure didn't fix it for me at least. Can't visit their games section at the steam site at all and all I get on steam itself whichever "page" I try to view is "Page was not found blabla". Quote
Ginger Lord Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 Episodic content just reeks of money gathering schemes. It works for TV as its free, so you know your gonna get the next bit no matter what. Games...well..I'm not paying £12 every now and then to find out what comes along. I doubt I'll be getting Episode One for that matter either. Sure the HL2 universe is nice, but hey I'm not paying £2 for an hour of gameplay. Quote
