Pericolos0 Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 You are a quiet bad-ass who throws out a few choice (and lame) one-liners as you dispense sordid justice on the end of the same old weaponry. You will meet characters who will serve no purpose other than to explain what a level designer was thinking but along the way you will need to pick up health packs to recover from the 9000 bullet holes you were penetrated with. This is capped off by an almost endless supply of enemies whose AI the developer has been touting for months, but in the end you can kill many of them at a time with little problem because they constantly seek refuge behind conspiciously placed inflammable barrels that explode on contact with a single bullet. That sounds like my kinda game actually Quote
Zacker Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 Well I prefer that old school duke nukem like style over the ohhh-so-not-original-anyways-even-though-we-pretend-it-to-be style of HL2. Quote
Pericolos0 Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 hl2 also had exploding barrels near hordes of brainless enemies Quote
von*ferret Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 read the article in "wired" about their dynamic difficulty and AI. Sounds interesting enough. Quote
mikezilla Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 hl2 also had exploding barrels near hordes of brainless enemies and i doubley hated it there because the game was so good. call of duty 2 also did it... only near 88's and other highly incendiary things. which made it even stupider. DOWN WITH EXPLODING BARRELS '06!!! Quote
Pericolos0 Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 but why remove something that is so much fun Quote
Minos Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 I'm with peris on this one. Fuck realism, I just want to have fun when playing games. You guys are too demanding some times Quote
The Postman Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 DOWN WITH EXPLODING BARRELS '06!!! Pipes will become the new barrels. Boring hallway? Add some pipes! Quote
Izuno Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 i'm not going to pass judgement until it comes out. look, if they have a fun, original take on killing guys with exploding barrels and everything else, then yeah, I may get it...but I guess i'd prefer to play a demo to be safe. will they release a demo on steam? Quote
ReNo Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 Probably post release on steam, maybe just before it comes out retail (they are planning that aren't they? I can't remember...)? Quote
KungFuSquirrel Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 DOWN WITH EXPLODING BARRELS '06!!! Pipes will become the new barrels. Boring hallway? Add some pipes! Pipes have been the new crate for a few years already. Quote
TomWithTheWeather Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 I predict rubble pile will be the new crate or barrel. Decoratively, foliage will be the new pipe. Quote
Tequila Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 Nah, it'll be the Recycle Bin. Practical AND sending the right message. Everybody wins! Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 excellent, now my map that is full of crates and boxes will be revolutionary success is mine! Quote
