skdr Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 Preloading is now on! http://storefront.steampowered.com/v2/i ... ppId=1300& http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=news&id=528 http://www.sinepisodes.com/ I'm definately getting this one, it comes with bundled SiN 1 singleplayer and multiplayer that can be activated right away! Now that's cool Anyone else? Quote
The Postman Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 If this is actually worth the $15 to purchase it I will be completely caught off guard and utterly surprised. Everything I've seen for it looks like unmitigated crap. Edit1: If it still has HL2 noises in it (like in the trailer) I'll laugh myself hoarse, too. Quote

I am glad to see someone agree's with me, that not everything on source looks good and plays well. Quote
ReNo Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 I was unimpressed by the trailer, but I'll probably pick it up anyway. I liked the original SiN Quote
dissonance Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 If we get some in to the Comp USA where I work, I'll think about picking it up. Otherwise, I'm not going to go out of my way to get it. P.S.: I get Aftermath/Episode 1 for $14(US). Quote
dissonance Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 Too bad they use too much HL2 contentYeah, It looked more like a mod than a game. Quote

Section_Ei8ht Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 My getting it will depend largly on the reviews from fellow mapcorians. Quote
skdr Posted April 6, 2006 Author Report Posted April 6, 2006 According to Ritual, those HL2 assets were only placeholders and there are none of them in final release... Quote

Exactly I'll probably get it since I really liked the first one (when it worked that is), but damn it looks horrible. They could almost call it a new episode of Half-Life 2 an people wouldn't notice the difference Quote
Mazy Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 Just checked some of the latest movies from it, to be fair it looks better and more original now. Still doesnt look very much like the first game in style, but I guess its near impossible to do that with the source engine anyway :G Quote
Zacker Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 I think this game looks promising and cool. I like the style of the game, it is realistic and yet still got a slighty cartoony touch with the strong colours. Quote
mikezilla Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 They said in an interview a few weeks ago that all half life 2 content had been removed. Having said that, I've followed the last few things that Ritual has done and was unimpressed (cs:cz, 25 to life.) They seem to follow a very strict old-school style fps strategy that I find alarmingly stale lately. Something to the effect of... You are a quiet bad-ass who throws out a few choice (and lame) one-liners as you dispense sordid justice on the end of the same old weaponry. You will meet characters who will serve no purpose other than to explain what a level designer was thinking but along the way you will need to pick up health packs to recover from the 9000 bullet holes you were penetrated with. This is capped off by an almost endless supply of enemies whose AI the developer has been touting for months, but in the end you can kill many of them at a time with little problem because they constantly seek refuge behind conspiciously placed inflammable barrels that explode on contact with a single bullet.
