Section_Ei8ht Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 imho the first at last shots are amazing, the others are kinda meh. as they all said, lighting could use some work. Quote
Flight40 Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Looks cool. But I've seen some prettier stuff from you Blue Quote
teeluu Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Yea, first and last screenshot are coolness Also, there's water in it, it's not possible to have water in it but the map feels very cold place, should it be ice instead? Or is the season like fall or something? On the other hand, water fits there nicely Quote
ReNo Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Love the great outdoors areas - the snowy setting gives it a nice fresh feeling. Belgarion, I think the building in the last shot is bland because it isn't a building per se - looks to me like a road tunnel. Quote
Bluestrike Posted March 30, 2006 Author Report Posted March 30, 2006 concrete stuff in last pic is indeed a tunnel Hmm ice, don't think there are that kind of ice textures in HL2 (besides that stuff I used as ceiling in the 2nd last pic ) Moving water doesn't freeze that easily anyway so it should't be a problem. Having (broken/floating) ice would indeed increase the looks but I have to draw a line somewhere, there is so much I want to do, makes me wish I could quit my job Quote
RD Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 superb, but take some prettier screenshots Quote
Meotwister Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 ohhhh that's ice on that bumpy ceiling? ohhh ok. Besides all the other amazing shots that ceiling is just odd looking to me. I agree with whoever mentioned better lighting contrast. Really cool thing you've got going on there. Quote
DD Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 Looks great! Now that the site is up I can start a thread http://awakening.hl2files.com Some suggestions: -There are techniques in HL2 you can use to hide the texture seams here. For the main road you can create a new material that blends to the rocky road texture between the road and snow. -You should be able to fix the seam between the vertical rock->snow texture and the snow floor. You can align them perfectly using 90 degree angles then distort the displacement map. -The road texture looks too scaled up, maybe for performance reasons? If not scale that sucka down Quote
