-Stratesiz- Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 According to zaphod it you still check r_speeds and model poly counts. The r_speeds are not as important as before though since models play a greater part as ya know. Quote
zaphod Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 hl2 doesnt work with r_speeds m8 though in its current form thats not very usable if its totally bsp bsp is about 10 times more expensive then models so everything detail except the main walls should be models the skins look good, the playermodel could use abit more detail on the outfit imo RO is a prety nice mod visually i just think its to slow to apeal to the mass coin will follow the same design lines as RO ? yes, HL2 still uses the good old r_speeds Quote
DelaZ Posted June 1, 2004 Author Report Posted June 1, 2004 Thanks for the comments guys RO is a prety nice mod visually i just think its to slow to apeal to the mass coin will follow the same design lines as RO ? We're not planning to follow the RO gameplay, we'll try to be more innovative and we have a couple of cool ideas in mind. The differences between the opposing teams will be kinda big and we hope to balance everything out and have a nice gameplay. yes, HL2 still uses the good old r_speeds What is a good average (r_speeds) for online play? And do you have any idea how many polies (on screen) the game can handle? (without lagging the game to much) Quote
zaphod Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 The rule of thumb we have been working with is 4,000 world polies and 70,000 model polies. That being a limit, not an average that you shoot for. As IR mentioned, decreasing your world poly count will show the most dramatic differences in framerate. *edit* and thats for single player maps. Quote
-Stratesiz- Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 So the r_speeds should be below...uhmm... 3500 in multiplayer? Quote
KidDynamite Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 damn, i agree, those are some nice models. Looks good Quote
DD Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 Those model & skins look good, DarkNemesis sounds familiar. Do you know his first and/or last name? Quote

Crackerjack Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 A bit to early to start mapping for HL2 isnt it? Quote
DelaZ Posted June 3, 2004 Author Report Posted June 3, 2004 A bit to early to start mapping for HL2 isnt it? Maybe it is yes, but it wont hurt anyone. The only thing it will do is give us little advantage if we succeed. Quote
-Stratesiz- Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 Hmmm... I'm actually rather interested. Got any more details, info, etc? Quote

DelaZ Posted June 3, 2004 Author Report Posted June 3, 2004 Ok stratz... Insurgency is a Tactical Infantry Combat mod. The Combat takes place in nearly any place on earth. Convincing locations with great detail, plenty of cover from view and fire. The locations can be real warzones with all the typical details or even an untouched location about to see combat. Insurgency involves conventional and guerrilla forces to cater to different types of gamers. The more disciplined players that love to use teamwork and tactics to their advantage will enjoy playing on a conventional team such as the United States Marines. The players who like to go solo or like to use hit and run tactics will enjoy playing as guerrillas. Team & squad based gameplay for the convential forces. More solo gameplay for guerillas and/or rebels. Special features like 24 hour lighting, real time and real time weather. etc... http://www.opcoin.net FAQ, Info & Press for more info If you have any interest contact me on IRC (GameSurge.net - #opcoin) Quote
