Grinwhrl Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 looks very nice, but its looking more like dod everytime i see it as I can see you are using dod resources. Quote
OrnateBaboon Posted March 25, 2006 Author Report Posted March 25, 2006 Thanks for the feedback guys. A few wip pics of one of the bombsites. Castle will extend to the outside of the level, and over the river. Castle will also break when bombed. Also some new decals to brighten the place up. More modern than the stock ones. Quote
OrnateBaboon Posted March 26, 2006 Author Report Posted March 26, 2006 Cheers RA7, and thanks for the pimpage on Lanmaniax! Beta is a long way off though. Still loads of stuff to do. A couple of rooms need a ton of work done to them before I could even consider releasing a beta to check out gameplay issues. A couple of guys have said that they don't really like the castle bombsite. They think a round building looks a bit weird next to lots of square stuff. I just wondered if anyone had an opinion on this. Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 the road in the second shot is way too flat, add some bumps to it and make the edges higher Quote
OrnateBaboon Posted March 26, 2006 Author Report Posted March 26, 2006 Bic Bell, I agree. All the roads, pavements and curbs will be changed. I have changed a few of them already, and made them more bendy, and more bumpy. Just takes me ages to do a displaced area, after which I want to rip my hair out! Quote
OrnateBaboon Posted April 12, 2006 Author Report Posted April 12, 2006 A small update showing changes to areas pimped already. Decals, overlays, rubbish, background buildings, proper displacements etc will be added when I am happy with the geometry. Constructive criticism appreciated. Water in the 4th shot will eventually blend into the skybox. Quote
KIIIA Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 Is all that custom stuff? Anyways, in my oppinion, it looks beautyfull! Quote
ReNo Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 Its all looking good man. I particularly like the composition of the area shown in the first shot - interesting use of varying angles and height that looks natural rather than forced Quote
Minos Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 Nice usage of angled stuff. I'd get rid of the piranesi/chateau content though, they are too old I think. Nice job so far skybex's bro! Quote
OrnateBaboon Posted April 13, 2006 Author Report Posted April 13, 2006 Thanks for the comments guys. KIIIA - no custom content at the moment. Vast majority of the textures are cs_italy. Reno - I am trying to angle more stuff to make things look more interesting. Need to angle buildings inside the map as well. Not just on the outer edges. Minotauro - Yes, good point. When going round the map looking at peoples constructive criticism, I will remember this. Quote
nico Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 looks sweet! however, a thing that caught my eye: In one of the shots where there is a table and some chairs there are garbage on the ground. Seems weird to me that someone manages to forget one boot? And perhaps try to place larger pieces of garbage (like that white can thingy) and stuff like that around garbage cans or other more likely places, as those are perhaps stuff that you dont just drop on the street. No biggie tho =) Perhaps make that angled (cornered?) set of stairs a bit more smooth/round if you can spare the polys (or whatever they are called, too long since ive used hammer, 3dsmax is corrupting my mind! yarrrgh!) keep it up dude, looks nice =) Quote
