Taylor Swift Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 That's easy, what computer specifications do you have? And how long time can you use your pc to survive without buying a new one? Tag along, for me it took about 2 ½ years until it was time to turn over with the pc and buy as a present on my birthday. I was restless all the time, I had no computer in almost 2 months and do you know how it feels to retire back with a new computer?, Amazing when you get rid of the old one you are lucky.. Ordinary it takes about 1 week and you feel that your pc goes slow again, so those guys who play it safe possibly maybye spend about 2000 $ on monstermachines to be proud and prove that they are real gamers and so on. Here is mine pc specs: (SCALEO) Intel Pentium 3.2 ghz (DualCore) 1 Gigabyte DDR2 ram 400mhz Ati Radeon X600se 256mb Soundblaster Live 2.0 Audigy 5.1 2x Hd's with a capacity on completly 320 Gig 4 Usb drives 1 DVD-RW 16x No floppy drive * Siemens Laser Mouse * Siemens keyboard * Siemens LCD screen with 19x size running on 1024x768 (32 bit) * Wireless Sony Headphones (black) * 5.1 Surround speaker sattelite set with a big subwoofer (extra's) *Mp3 Audio u2 512mb That was all! Monitor is the next upgrade on the list. Will see where I am at the end of the year, may swap the graphics card out then. Otherwise I'm gonna leave it for a year and a half. Bought half of the current one on my credit card and half of it from my wages. Flogged the old one for £200 which wasn't bad going. Probably do the same, upgrading is a bit futile most of the time because by tiem I get round to it the architectures have ussually changed. Quote
Section_Ei8ht Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Work Machine: Intel Dual Xeon 1.70 gig 512 Ram Everything else is on board sound and video and stuff. I'll throw in a Quadro FX one of these days Home Machine: AMD 64 3500+ Some kind of ASUS mobo with SLI 1 Gig Kingston Hyper-X (I think its PC3500, though I cant remember off the bat) ASUS GeForce 7800 GTX Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Gamer 7.1 Creative Inspiron 7.1 Surround Sound Seagate 160 gig HD Seagate 250 gig HD Dual 17inch CRTs (one is blurry as fuck though, time for an LCD upgrade) Usually do a home upgrade every year before Quakecon. Last year it was a full upgrade to this. This year the upgrade will probably be throwing in another 7800 before Quakecon (if they even have it again this year) I do a work upgrade whenever we have the money to buy an upgrade, and so far, that has been never.
