Mazy Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 I finally managed to get Shadow of the Colossus to not break on me last night and powered through the next 3 colossi... I'm only up to number 5, sadly, but I got sucked right back into this one. Got a little frustrated with the jump setup leading into #3, but that fight alone more than made up for it. I still see a bunch of weird glitches in it, though. In addition to the showstopper I kept running into (player/horse would freeze mid-stride, all other controls reacted normally but left a frozen motion blurred dude at the center of the screen - one time the horse broke free and left me floating there while running around in circles around me), I saw a bunch of spots where the world just didn't draw and I was getting triangle edges and all sorts of badness like that. The game is absolutely incredible, but it's a damn shame it wasn't done for a better piece of hardware. They stretched it, and it really shows Stwange, havent heard of any problems until now Anyway, that aquaduct/stair leading up to colossus 3 messed with me too, fell down like 10 times, too me quite a while to get past it, really annoying ~~ Quote
teeluu Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Trackmania Nations. It's free and the game itself is simple but it's just so addictive. Don't know how long this fun will last, but i'm not even near the point where i'd be getting bored with it. Quote
KungFuSquirrel Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Anyway, that aquaduct/stair leading up to colossus 3 messed with me too, fell down like 10 times, too me quite a while to get past it, really annoying ~~ Yeah, that sucked. There's like a 2 minute turnaround between making a jump attempt, failing, and making the next one. Didn't help that I'd shelved it for a while, so I was more awkward than usual with the controls. Mazy Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Yeah, the problem is that I didnt understand how you jumped out from the ledge, so I constantly just jumped in random directions in an attempt to get it I then later figured out that you need to pull down and then jump, wish I had known that earlier :G Quote
ReNo Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Well you did have do to it earlier in the game, so it's not as if they didn't introduce you to that ability or something. I'l admit it was probably the most awkward platforming bit in the game and the distance you had to travel to get back to it was massive, but it's not a deal breaker or anything. Quote
Tequila Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Yeah, it was annoying as you swim too slow, but man, running up the big guy's sword more than made up for it. Also, KFS, those issues sound like it could be your PS2; either that or I was REALLY lucky - I experienced no graphical glitches or gameplay malfunctions from start to completion. Quote
ReNo Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 I was talking to my flatmate about this and apparently the PAL version received quite a few fixes and optimisations, so it might just be the US copies that had these problems. I've not had any issues - graphical or otherwise - that aren't to be expected (ie. obvious popup and the like). Sounds like you have got it bad though KFS Hope you can persevere and get through it, as it is one of those games that you feel even better about once you have completed it (just like ICO eh ). Quote
KungFuSquirrel Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Lunaran's got my copy of Ico or I'd be all over that one, too Quote
Mojo Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 BO:R for 360, prettier graphics, Algor lent him his Condemned, that is pretty cool, but the one I am loving right now is GRAW. I seriously did not like GR2, but GRAW is so unbelievable fun. Quote
Mazy Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Its called Advanced Warfighter Mojo, you just love that title! Anyway I'm probably picking it up today, if I can slease me a copy at the local EB (Its released tomorrow here) Quote
JAL Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Only Trackmania Nations at the moment. Damn that game is frustrating, yet somehow awesome... Quote
Ginger Lord Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Testing Ham and Jam Oh, Plasma Pong, CoD2 on Veteran (or whatever the hardest one is) and finishing off everything in GTA:SA Quote
ReNo Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 I'm back on Chaos Legion on the PS2. Not a particularly noteworthy game, and generally regarded as a poor mans Devil May Cry, but for some reason I feel the need to finish it. I got it ages ago and put it to one side as its so damn hard, but I'm getting by ok since I've started again. I'm gonna be so proud when I'm done with it Quote
ginsengavenger Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 Just played through PoP: The Two Thrones. I loved the first two games, the first one for the acrobatics and the second one for expanding on that and fixing the combat... but somehow this one just doesn't feel as tight as Warrior Within. It didn't look as good as I expected it to either, I mean as an example the most important weapon in the game, the dagger of time that you have the entire way through, it's literally one polygon with an alpha outline - come on. It's bugggy as high hell too - mostly stable (only crashed to desktop once!) but really glitchy all over the place. Altogether it just felt pretty farmed-out, a trailing edge for the series rather than a big bang finale. Still, I had fun and it's worth playing. The last boss was really fucking hard too, it's been a long time since a game owned me that bad. Quote
