cdxx Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 yo anyone want to get a vmf passing around for a joint css map remake??? i was thinkning about getting several ppl together to get a little project to remake some classic maps back to source the right way. here's several i was thinking about. cs_docks cs_747 cs_siege de_vertigo anyone? not sure if these are being formally worked on by others so I appologize in advance if that's the case. I',m open for ideas on other map remakes. Lets do it.. I was thinking like 4 or so and do it like in like < than 2 or so months . Quote
OrnateBaboon Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 I think someone has already made cs_docks. 4 or so in less than 2 months though! Some real speed mapping will be required! Quote
General Vivi Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 there is already a joint effort to make siege atm im not supposed to talk to much about it but maybe ill be able to show some concept art when our concept artist is done painting it. its gauranteed to be a gasser. Quote
Schmung Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 747 would be good. Could expand on the airport theme a bit more in source Quote
hessi Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 i would prefer not a remake of cs_747 but instead a map with a planesetting would be cool. so the plane is just a part of the level. Quote

A airport, would be very nice in Source, not just a boring plane, a larger scene. There could of course be a plane too, but still, more. Quote
Grinwhrl Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Turtle rock will still make them all and better, i wouldnt bother. Spend your timemaking something worth making, like a new css map that one day may make the css lists Quote

Spend your timemaking something worth making, like a new css map that one day may make the css lists yeah i know what you mean, I'm working on that too but for now I think a good remake comminity style would be fun. sure turtle rock might eventually redo em all but if theres a good remake (TRS or Valve quality) then they'd prolly not waste the time no? so far the dock remakes I've seen have been a bit bland imho. I've started whiteboxing the main layout already just for shits. Quote
von*ferret Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Not the appropriate place for this thread, next time place this in the mapcore discussion forum. Quote

Schmung Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 a psot 747 airport would be cool. Blown up plane, wrecked walls and stuff. Like the T's have made a getaway and now have to plant bombs to make good their escape. Something like that. Quote
Campaignjunkie Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 I would remake Backalley or Thunder if anything - most of the textures and props you need are already in place, even as placeholders. Plus, you know there's not much chance of Valve or Turtle Rock remaking it themselves. Quote
