RD Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 The only good thing of fear is the combat. The maps sucked, and the story was even worse. Everytime a map was loaded you got some text that confused the hell out of me, like hannibal-3 spy satellite is online. One fear operative is found alive, life signs stable. Paxtons tracking signal is detected. Sfod-d reinforcements enroute to primary mission. Remaining fear operative attempts to locate and neutralize Fettel. Fear point man must locate armachans laptop. Fear technical officer and Sfod-d escort search for FEAR. I still dont know who Paxton or Fettel or Sfod-d or armachan is, and there were no satellites in the game. Anyways, what was good about the scripted sequences? I only digged the nuke sequence Quote
mike-0 Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 everything was well done, imo, except the level design. so bland. Quote
ginsengavenger Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Anyways, what was good about the scripted sequences? meh, I didn't mean the hold-still-while-we-tell-you-the-plot stuff, but the sudden appearances/disappearances of the girl and Fettel, the scenes with the fat lab tech were solid, so on. Oh yeah, the multiplayer: sucky disappointment. Why didn't they include slowmo in MP. TS is a perfect case for how it can work. They had a long time to work on it too since the early showings when they got a lot of criticism for it... why? Meh. I'd rather have a so-so attempt at it in a retail game than another boring deathmatch that I'll play twice and uninstall. Quote
Mazy Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 I agree with rd, the combat was totally amazing, but pretty much everything else didnt do that much for me. The graphics had their moments, but in general they just look dull and tacky, and obviously the leveldesign and architecture feels way too mockup'ish in pretty much the entire game. Also I didnt find it very scary, only got a few shocks through the game. Condemned (Also a Monolith game) did it alot better for me, building up a really tense atmosphere and just tried to sneak up on you and fuck your mind at the right times. Still, FEAR is a pretty good game but its no way as complete a package as some people make it sound (IMO ) Quote

D3ads Posted January 6, 2006 Author Report Posted January 6, 2006 I still dont know who Paxton or Fettel or Sfod-d or armachan is Paxton Fettel is the guy who takes over AMC with the clone soldiers, he's seen eating that security guard at the beginning and at various points in the game (ie when you're smacked in the face with a wooden plank). Sfod-d I believe is the name of the other friendly force you work with (can't remember) and armachan is the company building you end up at a quarter of the way into the game. Jeez RD, keep up it's hardly an RPG Quote

There's a choice between Slo-Mo or Normal in all the various flavours of MP (DM, TDM etc.) It really is quite fun with the Slo-Mo. Quote
