I don't think Mapcore needs to change. With a couple exceptions it's generally a levelheaded, laid back and accepting bunch of people. It's a modest collection of community minded creative types, and I don't think it needs to aspire beyond that. The people who run it already have full time jobs. I think the forum structure could be much more streamlined and the moderatorships less fractured, but it works pretty well for what it is.

EOT has its place, and that place is in EOT. EOT needs to stay in EOT.

agreed. i dont think we need any major changes.... and appointing people.... i dunno, dont think thats necessary... if everybody matures up a little and doesnt turn every serious thread into a EOT spamfest or posts useless comments then it's all good.

I agree. The moment you start giving 'membership' status to established people, you risk damaging egos, starting cliques (moreso than usual) and all of that kind of stuff. It's a nice idea in terms of the thought, but I don't think it's practical / don't see the problem with the current way things are done.

What do you mean by appointing people? We have admins that were more or less cleared up by who was active. I'm almost aways viewing the boards and reading just about everything. Admins were given to people who are most actgive and had a history with mapcore. Like klein is a 2d artist and control of the 2d boards ect. Is that what you meant?

like i said, we need some specific goals if we're going to "do" anything. right now mapcore is a great place for discussion on gaming, game design etc for people really into gaming and making games. I don't think there is any other place quite like this with such a good mix of industry and mod and aspriring talent from a wide variety of functions (art, animtion, level design, etc etc)

Personally, I love the business, industry and project management discussion we incorporate into many threads. I would love to see a "business of the industry" type forum, but for now we sort of cover that between Mapcore and General, so I don't think there is such a need for it.

I think our niche is the fact that we know gaming and design...for now we should stick to it.
