All the games rock.

And the film uses the same composer as the games, who is one talented, brilliant motherfucker.

So I've got high hopes that this could be the first somewhat decent game adaptation.

Haha, the cop looks pretty like the one from the first game, so good on them. Bird on the right is that fit-yet-square-jawed one from Pitch Black :) Can't really tell much about it yet, but I'll probably watch it regardless.

[insert obligatory (and possibly hilarious) comment about there not being enough fog in the picture; here]

First off, I can’t believe a goth-boy Deadlode hasn’t played it, maybe due to its lack of Acid-Funk Scat Metal or whatever he’s into now, I don’t know. My advice to you is to go and buy it, Silent Hill 2 is probably the best one (but 3 is easier to get into), don’t even finish reading this malformed paragraph, drop what you’re doing and bolt it out the door to the nearest Electronics Boutique bargain bin or at least go on Amazon.co.uk. No super saver delivery though, that takes too long.

I like them because they were scary without deploying the usual method of making a scary game* and atmosphere**. I think the only time something actually made me jump on purpose was that Fucking Cat in Silent Hill 1 (And he is well worthy of the capital letters). The only real problem was they were slow-starting and a lot of people stopped playing them before the juicy stuff – oh, and Silent Hill 4’s timesink “do the game again with a cripple” section.

Anyhoo, I’m kind of giving my opinion on the games here, not the film. I don’t know, the only video game movies I’ve enjoyed where the two Final Fantasy ones, and that’s mainly because I’m a fanboi (I hear that’s how you spell it). Otherwise I can’t think of a game that was turned into movie without being completely raped of any relation to the game and/or entertainment value... Ok, Resident Evil wasn’t necessarily bad, but a) the main likeness boiled down to zombies and b) they killed off my favourite character. I’m going to err on the side of caution, even though the 3 seconds of footage seems to indicate they are heading down the right track (because that's counteracted entirely by that stupid picture). It has potential to rock absolutely, though,

* Things going boo.

* Dread that something will go boo..

So who else thinks that Marilyn Manson should have been a creative director here, and all around involved with the movie as much as he can be?

It just seems that kind of a movie that Mansons influence would make good, especially on the music side.
