I agree with you there posty, we should try to check that what we write is written atleast so that it doesn't make the point hard to understand.

But as it clearly is, political discussion is about opinions, and respecting others opinions and choices. So even if some can stand few typos and few go mad over them, we should try to tolerate them atleast. If you can tolerate others opposing views, you very well can tolerate few typos.

So again, more than anything, let's be civilized towards each other.

Typos yes, regular mispellings and AOL-speak no.

But as you can see from your misspelling 'mispellings' even if you know how the word is spelt, you still write it wrong, it's a basic motoric action of the hand, hard to fix. So that is why I said, be civilized with each other, and don't attack them with blind rage, it's not that people make typos and misspellings just to be a jackass.

But you are absolutely right with the AOL slang, that is used just to piss people.

Awesome, my own thread! Sorry again for derailing the last one Kosmo, I'm glad this was split off.

I agree completely that this is no place for the AOL-speak. Typos and honest misspellings bug me but I tolerate them, especially considering English is not everyone's first language. But come on guys - make an effort. If you can't be bothered to preview and read back over your own post maybe you should think twice about making everybody else read it.

Glad that you agree with me. Now can we close the thread?

My humble opinion is that in a political discussion forum, threads dont get locked and typos and grammar dont get mentioned (unless its extreme). In political or religious discussions things always heat up, we all know it, so why lock things. People with aol speak arent defeated by moderating their messages or insulting them, but by responding to what they say (which most probably is just as ignorant as their english skills, but sometimes you are insulting geniuses). If you ever visited forums dedicated to political, religious or science discussion, you will see the opinion shared by people like Einstein, Michio Kaku and dr. Hawkins (i couldnt think of any political figures wasting time on forums), and probably the silent majority of mapcore.

But this is mapcore, and not a political board, so forget all i said and lock it now

I think you missed the aim of this whole debacle. It's to make it so that arguments from everyone aren't the average forums board fare. It also tends to weed out the morons who can't carry an argument without resorting to all caps or "no u" style arguments.

Posty I have a bad feeling that this thread might take an ugly turn to highway to nowhere.

You would be better off to just lock the thread when there still is a clear argument for and against the topic but minimal amount of "u r gay."

Agreed?

I get the aim of this debate, but as usual in a political forum there are disagreements about everything and everybody.

Either you get over these typos, or you appoint a second moderator to correct your own grammar and see how wonderful it works for having good conversations. Typos will always exist, its useless to moderate or even think an atomsecond about them.

I dont care about peoples writing, but their maps, and they can all share their opinion. If its crap, you moderate it, but a conversation doesnt become mature by applying immature rules to it. Personally, the worst ive ever written is "ppl" instead of "people" and i dont spend an atomsecond looking at my grammar. Tbqfh, english isnt my native language, even so ive always had perfect grades for it in a way that mesmerizes native brits . I wont even mention my german, dutch, latin and french. You moderating my messages reminds me of what Jesus once said to an angry mob in Bethlehem:

"Let anyone among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her" Joh 8:7 .

The adulterous woman in this case is Kosmo, the angry mob is Posty and I am Jesus.

Oh would you go nail yourself to the cross already. Get over yourself.
