Kosmo Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 why the "....no" tho? This is just guesswork, but I think he said no to everything written before in this thread, since he wrote the expanding universe theory as an actual fact and something that is undeniably happening right now. But that is just my guess, I believe that he just wrote the thing not considering how it sounds, not necessarily how he believes things are. Quote
Pericolos0 Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 uhhh... but the universe is expanding, all the galaxies we observe are moving away from us. At an accelerating rate actually. This is a fact Quote
GrayFox Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 uhhh... but the universe is expanding, all the galaxies we observe are moving away from us. At an accelerating rate actually. This is a fact But the string theory is not a fact... yet. Quote
RD Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 cars move away from me all the time, it doesnt mean the road is expanding Quote
Kosmo Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 cars move away from me all the time, it doesnt mean the road is expanding Hehe, killer Quote
Vinny Testaverde Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 the ...No was in response to the pudding and other stupid stuff that was said. There is empirical evidence to suggest the expanding universe and the Big Bang theory.... String Theory not so much though An intresting idea is that the universe will expand so large that it will not have enough energy to hold itself together anymore and will collapse in what is called "The Big Crunch" Quote
Kosmo Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 An intresting idea is that the universe will expand so large that it will not have enough energy to hold itself together anymore and will collapse in what is called "The Big Crunch" If the universe expands too large how can it collapse? Where do these theories come from, the clown school? Quote
Pericolos0 Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 cars move away from me all the time, it doesnt mean the road is expanding how is that even a valid analogy? Quote

ginsengavenger Posted December 2, 2005 Report Posted December 2, 2005 cars move away from me all the time, it doesnt mean the road is expanding how is that even a valid analogy? how not? because the road isn't defined by the cars. Quote

Actually it is just as valid analogy as any. Don't forget that we observe GALAXIES and draw a conclusion that the UNIVERSE is expanding, here we just observe CARS and draw a conclusion that the ROAD is expanding. Quote
