Minos Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 ggrrr it's getting really annoying. First of all, I don't get why the sdk is bundled with Steam. Ah ok, updates and stuff but you can't run it in off-line mode ffs!! Then, I just got the most irritating error message one could ever get: What you mean ?? steam servers are too busy to handle my request ? Was my bank account too busy too when I paid this fucking game ? I own this fucking game, I wanna play/update it whenever I want. Shit like that didn't happen before. And my guess is that it will get even worse now that they will be delivering many other games. And last but not least, this new sdk is a joke. I don't know why they fucked up things that worked perfectly in the past. When you move brushes they get out of the grid. Skewing brushes is nearly impossible, and the worse thing, it now runs on low settings on my PC!! It's impossible to align textures and preview my map :S I really hate you Gabe. Yours sinceresly, Min0. Quote
Kosmo Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 One would think that with the money Valve got from the HL2 launch and DoD launch, and the deal Valve has made with developers to publish their crappy games through the crappy steam they would buy a huge data center to provide the games mods and such, but instead they bought solid gold bars with their money, shoved them all up to Gabe's ass and run Steam through old 286 pc with monochrome screen and once in a while someone decides to play Alleycat with it and crashes the steam. Valve has great ideas but don't know how to make them work. Quote
Fletch Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 That's the error you get that has nothing to do with what the actual error is. When I had it, my cache file had been corrupted (by Steam oddly enough). Delete and re-download worked for me. Others have had similar experiences. And still others have had dis-similar experiences. 50/50 shot I suppose. Quote
Tequila Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 When you move or clone brushes in the beta, you have to drag from the diagonals otherwise it goes off-grid. As for performance... well, the new Hammer is so much faster for me with a complex map. Odd. Perhaps one day the SDK will be seperate from online Steam. One can dream. Quote
