mawibse Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 The 6800 is the first hardware that can render it with decent frame rates… Quote
FrieChamp Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Yeah it's nice, but there is no need to create two threads about it  Quote
Crackerjack Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 OMG... I give up on mapping.. haha jk.. Thats going to be tough as shit to make mod's for .. and its going to take a straight year to make a map with that much detail and such. Quote
coldblooded Posted April 16, 2004 Author Report Posted April 16, 2004 CJ: I think mapping will be replaced with importing-prefabs-and-making-a-map-with-them Quote
Crackerjack Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 That would seriously blow ass, and thats why I would stick with HL1 and HL2 mapping. Quote
mawibse Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Hate to break it to you Crackerjack but thats essentially what HL2 mappin is. Quote
Guest John Kerry Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 love this video... hl2 = pwned Quote
kleinluka Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 woah the displacement mapping is creamy pants material Quote
FrieChamp Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 That would seriously blow ass, and thats why I would stick with HL1 and HL2 mapping. I browse UT mapping forums from time to time and I often feel a distinct disfavour towards HL mapping (which I do not understand fully) but they got a point when they say "UT mappers will crush HL mappers once HL2 is out". Duff-e Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 mawibse are you sure about that? most of the 6800 benchmarks ive seen only put it SLIGHTLY above the 9800XT, im talking like 4 or 5 fps here and there (although some benchmarks did get a good 40 fps on the 9800, but it was like one and wasnt consistant) im not questioning your sexy brain or anything like that, just wondering <3 Quote
Pingu Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 pwn~ teh UT people r so petable~~(=> /me lix Quote

-Stratesiz- Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 I just feels stupid to upgrade one's computer into high end performance stuff when ya still can't run the games coming out within 2 years from now. Quote
