Dreaded Fist Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 When was the last time religeon did anything good for us? Well, I suppose if blowing yourself up in a school in the name of Allah, or invading a country because God 'told you to' are good things, then yeah, it's done great things for mankind. But, since today isn't backwards day, all religeon has done is spread hate and divide people (almost as much as poltics). Religeon spreads hate, by telling its lemmings that if you dont do things the way the bible says you should, then you're sinning. You can't screw out of wedlock. Who the hell came up with that? Some fat guy virgin who couldn't get laid 2,000 years ago, so he decided he didn't want anyone else getting laid either? Oh and god hates fags, don't forget that. Now, I really couldn't care if "fags" want to have sex with each other. They can go right ahead so long as they don't try to make me watch. Likewise, I'm sure they feel its great that a man can have sex with a woman, so long as they don't have to see it, as well. I once heard someone say, "humans are the only species on this planet arrogant enough to believe they were created by some higher being". How I wish I could remember who said that. I'd send them a letter proffesing my love for them. Existential nihilism 4 lyfe! Anyone have any thoughts on religeon and why it's good/bad/meh? I wont remember I posted this thread so don't expect me to come back to see what people have replied with unless someone reminds me in the channel
Minos Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 I don't sympathize with religion either. It's a fucking mass brainwash. People are always killing each other because of religion. What I most hate about religion is that it's always against personal freedom. If you feel like doing something, religion will probably tell you not to do it. (yeah I'm looking at you vatican). Gah my head hurts now, klein and I had a long discussion about this like 3 weeks ago and we have almost the same opinion. /me waits for luka to reply to this thread
JynxDaddy Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 Religion is a lie that I don't have a problem with other people believing, unless it gets out of hand, like extremists activities.
Dreaded Fist Posted November 4, 2005 Author Report Posted November 4, 2005 Religion is a lie that I don't have a problem with other people believing, unless it gets out of hand, like extremists activities. YES, EXACTLY. IF people weren't so damn gullible, people wouldn't be so extreme. But since we're barely evolved passed apes, we've got at least another billion years to go. Did you know, that there's a species of ape in some forest somewhere, and get this, they're IDENTICLE to humans, not in looks, but in behaviour. If the females want food, they give the males handjobs or blowjobs!
kleinluka Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 Basically i don't have anything against religion as long as it isn't forced upon people and isn't radical. It is great that religion gives people something to believe in and makes them stronger and help them through the day. Personally I don't need this... but others do and thats totally fine.. that is....AS LONG as people leave me alone with their religious believes and as long as they don't talk about it like it's fact and the only truth that their god is the only one in existence and that god does and most of all I don't want to hear that something I am doing is wrong because THEIR religion says so. I don't wanna hear it. Islam is a peaceful religion at heart. It condemns killing of innocents just like any other religion. It isn't the religion that's the problem, it is radical fundamentalists that misinterpret what is written in the qu'ran. Christianity, same thing. It's the people that go too crazy and overboard with it that make life a pain for everybody else with a different opinion/belief. If people knew how to control themselves and let their believes be their own believes and not everyone elses, the world would be a much more peaceful place. Unfortunately that's just not how things work on this planet. And just to add to this, an other thing I absolutely hate is when religious people blame everything that happens on god... two young kids die -> "it was god's will, he has a reason for everything" -- twisted thinking like that is just horrible IMO
Minos Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 Yeah I hate when someone dies and people say shit like "god has greater plans for him" etc etc
Kosmo Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 I myself hate raligion all it's forms as a concept, it just is wrong to base your own toughts on some "teachings" of this and that, you basically become a mindless drone with everything pre chewed for you, easy answers that doesn't make you think too much. Kills the man inside and leaves only the stinking husk outside. And then there are the extremists, the people who don't think clearly at all, people who don't look for the teachings, they are looking for reasons. Reason to hate, murder, rape people, religions that started as a teaching of something better and kinder has turned in to a manifest to war and anger. I like buddhism, not so much as a religion, but a philosophy, a guildeline, something you might want to think on but not something you want to live by necessarily. And that is what religion should be, about life philosophy, about a target to become enlightened, not about some overwhelming power that created things and is going to eventually take everything away and turn people to demons, something you don't have any control over. Religion has divided world way more severely than any politics, there are millions of those who don't have any political view but very few that doesn't have something to say about religion. I have always tought that religion itself is the greatest humanrights violation in history, in certain communities your life is controlled by some crazy belief right from the beginning, when you are a kid there is not much to do, you just have to go by some supposedly 2000 year old writings. And sometimes, even the parents don't have control over themselfs, their actions are controlled by the bible or some other, their community is ran by religious leader, a priest, a rabbi, holyman. But do I think world would be better place without religions? Possibly, but, passive people are passive people, if you don't have raligions, they are just slaves to something else, and mentally defect people are going to kill people who drink pepsi because they like coca cola, or blow up McDonald's, we have seen this kind of behavior before, some Green Peace extremists, and there was a bombing of McDonald's in Russia. But I would like to raise my children in a world where people are not defined by anything, not by nationality, not by religion, not by color of his skin, and not controlled by religion.
Fletch Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 There are three misspellings of "religion" on this page.
JynxDaddy Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 I'd like to add that although I don't believe in any of the deities or fairy tales, I'm really interested in the proverbs and teachings of some religions, like Buddism, because that is some wise stuff and causes only good.
mawibse Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 We all follow rules, if they where written/made up 2000 years ago or yesterday doesn’t matter since you decide which to follow and which to believe in. It’s the ones who blames a different group for all the worlds problems that draws my contempt. Blame the politicians, the jews, religions, capitalists, communists or whatever you want, but when you do, in my heart that makes you part of the problem.
Section_Ei8ht Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 There are three misspellings of "religion" on this page. does that include the topic? Long story short, I prefer science over religion. Science doesnt stand in a crowded area and kill several innocents in its own name. Not to mention it can be proven true.
mawibse Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 Science doesnt stand in a crowded area and kill several innocents in its own name. ...neither does religon, its a person everytime. If I go to a crowded area and scream "FOR SCIENCE!" and blow myself and others up, does that make me or science the bad guy? Weird how dumb one gets when playing the blame game, you wanna blame something thats easy to group, but thats human I guess.
Kosmo Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 Mawbise, there is a hole in your theory about rules and how we decide to follow them. For instance, rules like laws that our societies have are not for one to choose which to follow and which not. And many societies draw their rules from religions, the mainstream religion of the area by which many live by. Hundreds of years ago they seemed to be the best rules since everyone already lived by them and they prohibited anyone from hurting eachother and going by unpunished.
⌐■_■ Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 FFS why are religion flamers always tolerated. No matter how cheap your arguements are, they always get accepted lol... Fuck off telling believers how stupid they are and how weak because they need a religion to 'make it thru the day'. Yeah, go ahead and be a non-believer, just piss off and go fuck yourselfes if the only thing youre gonna do is pooping on other peoples believs. So.
