Duff-e
I dont know if this is the right forum but I'll give my question a shot. When I iron my dress shirts and spray them with starch it reminds me of the good old days when the shirt was brand new. Obviously this also happens when I wash the shirt or whenever it gets wet....it gives it that vibrant original shine. Is there any way to spray the shirt with something to make it keep this? I realize that it would be the equivalent to a stain but I wonder if theres a more popular/streamlined method. Thanks a bunch
Fletch
If you have dark colored dress shirts, I sugest using something like Woolite Dark Laundry formula istead of normal detergent. It really helps prevent fading. Other than that, avoid using anything that has bleach in it. From everything that I've been told (by women), once a shirt starts to fade, it's going to stay like that. So the best you can do is try to prevent from getting that way in the first place by cleaning it as gently as possible. This meants light detegents, steam cleaning, and dry cleaning. That and invest in better shirts in the first place. More expensive fabrics have better base materials and finishes which keep the pigment and luster longer. jfas
if its a solid color, you could always dye it in the sink to get the color back

Duff-e
what if i like, sprayed my shirt with oil!? just curious btw any other tips for keeping jeans and other clothing like new? I've heard: 1. turning them inside out when you wash 2. dark bleach (like you said) 3. never dry them in a dryer. put in between two towels
ReNo
I turn most things inside out when I wash, but drying things between two towels? Thats a bit far isn't it

Phatsniper
Putting delicate clothing inside a pillow case while you wash it will give it some protection. Or that's what I saw on TV, I only have ripped jeans and crinkled t-shirts.

Fletch
I wouldn't spray your clothes win any sort of oils Duffy. Oils really fuck up fibers in a way that you can't undo. I've seen some "luster" sprays at dress clothes stores before, but most of them are silicon based and are deisgned for you to spray on things like suit coats.
