Zacker Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 Finally I am done with my first gmax prop which is supposed to be some kind of palm or banana tree. Modelling and texturing by me. Quote
Zacker Posted October 15, 2005 Author Report Posted October 15, 2005 I agree, the screenshot is not the best. Afaik there is no render option in Gmax though which is why it is free. If anyone know of any 3rd party renders that work with gmax or other ways to get it rendered, then please say so. Quote
Zacker Posted October 21, 2005 Author Report Posted October 21, 2005 Here comes wireframe and skin:) Quote
Captain P Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 It could use some work where the wood and the leaves meet each other. That looks too simple right now. Other than that, I think it's fine. Quote
st0lve Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 thats insane, you should manage to stick both textures onto the same map.. Quote

I totally agree though:) Yep 1024*512 is quite high but I did not want to limit myself too much on such stuff. Having both on the same map would require me to do some manual UV-mapping, something I have totally avoided for this model. I have noticed that it is much more correct to do it the other way though:) Quote
Defrag Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 I'd just learn to UVmap. It's not that hard for simple props and it'll stand you in good stead for the moment you start to make more complicated stuff. Quote

Other than that and the overly large skin for the leaves. Also, this might be helpful. The main difference is that in reality, there's branches coming out of the top, not just leaves, and the 'texture' is different at the top. http://www.familycrisp.com/images/Galla ... 20tree.jpg Quote
