Wow,

What a variety of reaction indeed! Shitz.

I liked the demo. I am a big fan of good atmosphere and this game has it. Another plus is the animations. Damn! That dino made me fackin weep when it crushed the stones were I was hiding behind. :megaman:

The javelins sucked though.

I'd enjoy the movie like feel more if it actually felt like I was in control. In the kong bits I felt I should have died at least three or four times, but I never did, it was just so.. hgngh Words fail me.

Fighting was boring, especially with the two T-rexes. It just kept going on an on. In the end I got bored and swiched on the super mode. After that I didn't have a clue what was going on due to all the effects on the screen and bad camera movement. And then suddenly, both the T-rexes were dead and the demo ended.

It lacked purpose due to the things that were mentioned earlier.

Hiding from the trex was kinda boring all together, go here, shoot here, hide here, run here, ect ect ect. I would've liked more integration and knowing somehow my ammo health, ect.

...but it was kind of boring. It was very linear, you had to go through the door, to the end, jump, swing etc, there was only one way and there was nooo leeway, nor much ability to go wrong. there is a large lack in stuff you can do, it seems like you just walk up to crap and beat the shit out of it, which gets boring. the first person part was sort of dumb too, i get a gun and my mission? run in circles while being chased by a 3 story dinosaur so two guys can open a door. it was just meh...

what really sucks about the kong fighting is that there's next to no damage feedback. you can hit and hit and hit and have no idea how close the enemy is to dying, and vice versa. that's bad game design.

You dont defeat them by making them run out of health, you defeat them by hitting them enough and then ripping them apart with some über button smashing.

But I can see what you mean Strat from a gameplay point of view, but I see this as an experience all together, like watching a movie, and in those terms I think its quite successful. I wont pretend this is genius gameplay, but it doesnt try to do this anyway.

And the complaints about the health/ammo bar is just stupid. I think its great to see a game that really tries to be cinematic and gets away with it this well. Besides, you can turn on an ammo counter in the options if you really want it.

But it really is quite interesting how devided people are regarding this game. At work its like 50/50 if people like it, much like here. But who knows, the feel and style might get kinda old when you play the full thing.

It was very linear and I agree with those who didn't really feel in control. It didn't seem like it would keep my attention for more than 10 minutes, although the kong fighting is definately worth showing off to friends.

I did like the cinematic feel though, it's a step in the right direction and I hope some day it's pulled off well.
