art house tsunami benefit

So San Francisco is a pretty cool place. I was digging through some old stuff on the ol' hard drive and came across these pictures I took last January at a tsunami benefit event held at an art house/cafe/bar in the city. They brought in Thai dancers (not pictured), bellydancers, breakdancers, a small brass band and a huge marching band. The place was rockin'.

The first pic features a couple friends of mine who are bellydancers. They weren't performing that night; they were there to see their friends in the troupe on the bill.

One of my favorite things to do in picture-taking is to wait for the right moment and catch someone else's flash from somewhere else in the room. You get such a stark and vivid picture. The pictures were taken on a compact canon s400 point-n-shoot in very low light so they're really noisy.

Nice shots!

And its nice to see ppl helping each other.

But my reply might be best suitable in the Political forum just the same.

Because isn't it very typical?

At the third picture there's this poor guy staring in to see what the rich and beaty ppl are doing, while they rais a lot of money.

I.E why doesn't we take care of our own first?

But as soon something happens a broad every one wants to chip in.

With that said i don't even know if he really is poor, he maybe just look that way.

Spellbinder.

heheh, yeah i know what you mean. i remember a thought kind of along those lines occurring to me at the time. i liked the juxtaposition.

the thing was free and donation-based; he could have come if he wanted but he was waiting at the bus stop and just saw something going on ;)
