Dear readers i am happy to announce that Gang-life is born!

Hey guys

As you can see we've finally made the switch to Half-Life². It hasnt been an easy change, but as you can see by the screenshots below, were moving pretty fast considering we currently have a very small team. Were still the same mod, same story and same goals, only difference is the mod is now for Half-Life².

Both the website and forums have received a complete upgrade. All the websites php coding has been done by Koen (a.k.a Just-Me) including the blog system you see to the left. It gives visitors a way to see what that member working on, and how he's progressing in the mod team. All graphics were made by me.

We already have two players complete. Both are heavily modified version of Half-Life² models. The uv mapping and skins have been re-done on both, and things like necklaces and bandannas have been added. Below are the renders of both models (remember that things like the necklaces get reflections when in-game, so in the renders they look fairly basic), and yes, the models are already in-game and fully animated!

We also have a new mapper on the team. i3ada55 has been around in the Half-Life 1 and Half-Life² community for a very long time now, and has released some amazing maps like aim_stalker (screenshots below). Its going to be great having someone with this kind of knowledge on the team, especially for our original COD mappers they need to make the switch.

aim_stalker will also be included in Gang-Life because it blends in nicely with the mod. Think of it as a "gang war at the old factories".

Just-Me is also straight off the block and has dived into Half-Life² mapping in hammer. He's already made some good progress on one of his maps.

Now. Considering this post is supposed to be launching the mod for Half-Life² its not going to be complete without some help needed requests =) (anyone not interested in joining the team should stop reading here).

Whats needed

Modelers

As a modeler you may be required to model weapons, players or vehicles, and you must be able to uv map your own models. If you arent very strong in modeling players or vehicles thats fine, but remember a lot more people are going to apply wanting to model weapons, then they will wanting to model something like vehicles.

Animators

This will mostly cover weapon animations. Shooting, reloading etc, but you may also be asked to help out with player animations (if your able to). You should have a firm knowledge of animating in which ever program your working with, and understand how to import and export models.

Skinners / 2D Artists

This mostly covers weapons. You must understand how to skin a texture file exported from something like 3ds max. Your skins must be very realistic. You may also be required to skins players - this includes skin and fabrics.

Coders

Because of things like new gametypes, we need someone who has a firm knowledge of coding for half-life (which as far as i know is c++). Must be very talented because we have some pretty crazy ideas which we'd really like to have implemented! The coding will mostly be gametypes, but you may be asked to help out with things like menu's and whatever else.

Sound Artist

We need someone to edit and produce audio tracks for the game (which will be played in things like cars, and in certain buildings) and another person to do weapon and player sounds.

Voice Actors

We need 4 voice actors in total, one for each gang.

Vice Lords - This gang is mainly black. So need a deep voice, and should know how to pronounce words correctly that gangs use. Like "dogg" (lol).

Immortal Guns - A kind of white punk gang. Still need a deep voice.

Eastern Red Pride - An asian gang. Must have (or be able to imitate) an asian accent.

Tres Reyes - A Hispanic gang. Must have a Latin accent. A plus would also be if you can speak the language, even fluently.

All voice actors must have a good microphone. A major plus would be if you had access to a recording studio =P although i guess that a little over the top.

Mappers

Mappers must have a good understanding of hammer. As a mapper you must be able to create highly detailed maps, but also maps which maintain good gameplay. No one on the team will design map layouts, so it is up to your creativity to be able to build something good. Maps for Gang-Life are usually neighbor hood or city based. We have nothing surreal or fantasy based in the mod, so make sure your joining the right team.

Concept Artists / Graphic Artists

You will be required to produce 2d images that may be used in things like wallpapers, around the website, or background images. Must be able to draw or paint well, and must be able to scan your work into the computer if your a traditional artists (obviously this is not rewuired if you draw in painter/photoshop).
