ReNo Posted September 17, 2005 Report Posted September 17, 2005 Haven't seen a thread for this, and while it is a movie, I figure its pretty closely linked with games and so isn't too out of place in this forum section. Anyway, just got the fansubbed version of this and watched it today. I've been following its progress since it was first announced so its great to have finally seen it. While in some regards it doesn't quite meet my expectations, overall its a hugely enjoyable and exciting movie, and it looks wonderful. I can't imagine anybody who didn't play/like FFVII to really enjoy it though - as many have said, this is pure fanservice and wouldn't make much sense to an outsider. Hell, it didn't make much sense to me at points, despite being the successor to one of my favourite and most played games! Other people's thoughts? Quote
Zyn Posted September 17, 2005 Report Posted September 17, 2005 Ok, it doesn't make any sense at some places, and I've played FF7, but I absolutely love the fights in this movie. When all the characters suddenly appeared to gather in the fight, it was orgasmic! The second half of the movie is almost constant fighting, and it's made in ways beyond Hollywoods wildest dreams! I had a hard time to contain myself after I saw the movie, cause I was shaking of excitement, and almost cried a bit cause of the beauty of this movie. Best movie I have ever seen yet! Quote
insta Posted September 17, 2005 Report Posted September 17, 2005 I've never played a Final Fantasy game in my life, and I watched the movie the other day. Story didn't make much sense to me, but the CG was wonderfull. Although I had no idea what was going on at any given time, I still enjoyed it. Quote
Minos Posted September 17, 2005 Report Posted September 17, 2005 The movie had nothing to do with the game I guess. They just used the name (yeah I have never really played FF. I tried FF9 or 10 but I was too lazy for it ) Quote
Tequila Posted September 17, 2005 Report Posted September 17, 2005 Rubbish story. Awesome visuals and fights. Reno and Rude are too damn cool. Quote
IR Posted September 17, 2005 Report Posted September 17, 2005 the story is certainly not rubbish if you played the game and finished it but to people tht didnt play the game i imagine its rubish and hard to understand Quote
Lee3dee Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 Watched advent children last week. It was amazing! If you haven't playing Final Fantasy 7 and finished it, you will not understand what the story is about and whats going on. The CG was awesome, and the continuation of the story pulled you in for all 1 hour and 40 minutes. I have the DVD on pre-order, but since Squaresoft delayed the DVD in the USA so they could add english voices, I wanted to see it the day it came out, and it was well worth it Quote
InsaneSingingBlender Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 movie was awesome, watched it yesterday, and again today. the cgi was amazing. it was the most impressive ive ever seen. the only downsides to it were that at some parts it didnt make much sense, there wasnt much materia usage, and the other characters didnt get enough screen time. it still makes it as one of my favorite movies though. Tequila Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 the story is certainly not rubbish if you played the game and finished it but to people tht didnt play the game i imagine its rubish and hard to understand I've completed the game, I adore the Final Fantasy 7 universe and narrative. But AC's story is complete tosh. Honestly. It's nice that it follows on from the game ending, but what happens is just embarassing. Edit: Not that it mattered, seeing the gang take on Bahamut made everything better. Quote
GrayFox Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 Quite nice and pretty much what I expected. The fight scenes were spectacular. I just couldn't help smiling when Tifa was fighting one of the three gang members in the church and a modified version of the FFVII fight theme was playing in the background. Quote
