Lee3dee Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 Since the website is up, I thought I'd post some of my artwork created for the game. Everything was created in Maya & Photoshop then exported into the Torque Engine. Currently we are 90% into our first Beta. YAY! With a demonstration at the IGDA meeting on September 28th. Since the current build doesn't support real-time shadows, we have recently met with Nvidia to help us polish up the game with realistic water, plus they have an "in" with garagegames, so we may get better support. This is the first time, I have been a lead artist for a game, Hehe. Juggling multiple art assets, keeping tags on artwork, what needs to be touched up, touching up others work, etc. All good experience Stuttgart, Arkansas Oacoma, South Dakota Old Harbor, Alaska Fairfax, Virginia Comments are welcome Quote
von*ferret Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 you max out your poly count ceiling? Quote
Lee3dee Posted September 12, 2005 Author Report Posted September 12, 2005 u mean, number of polys in the scene . nahh, its alot of faking the player with 2d textures in the background Quote
Minos Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 Cool stuff man. Have heard bad stuff about torque engine tho Quote
General Vivi Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 hey nice. what company do you work for? Quote
FrieChamp Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 Last time I checked "Stuttgart" was in Baden-Württemberg. Damn Americans stealing our cities! Quote
RA7 Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 Nobody votes for zombies (not even me hehe) Pics looks good....what kinda game is it? Quote
JynxDaddy Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 That looks pretty good already, show us ze ducks pls Quote
Captain P Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 Ducks? Messerschmits all the way. Anyway, looks nice 'n moody. Is it going to be standard duckhunt gameplay or are you adding some stuff to spice up the gameplay? Quote
Lee3dee Posted September 12, 2005 Author Report Posted September 12, 2005 Minotauro: thanks Only bad thing about the engine is that it doesn't support shadows, which I wanted really badly, would make the game look awesome!. but for $400 its very reasonable. I baked shadows on most of the artwork, but it didn't translate well into the engine generalvivi: Mid Carolina Media is funding the project. There are 2 other artists and 2 programmers. So total 5 of us making the game. FrieChamp: hehe, does Baden-Württemberg look anything like that? RA7: some people did vote zombies . I voted for 3rd one . The game is a duck hunting game JynxDaddy: I will when we get to 100% in the beta, promise Kedhrin: is that a anti-bush voter Captain P: Thanks . Single player is shooting the ducks upto 6 times and then retrieving them with the dog, which is controlled by the player. Multiplayer is going to be 6 people against each other to catch the most ducks. There is some high points for colored hucks and hidden bonuses and points taken away for endangered species. Multiplayer will be great because if you shoot a bird, and any player sees it fall, its open game to everyone, so a battle to see who will get the bird first occurs Quote
Zacker Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 It is visible that it's the old Torque engine, but I think the art work is fine. Cool enough with the lead position:) Quote
Lee3dee Posted September 12, 2005 Author Report Posted September 12, 2005 Zacker: hehe, i started as a environment artist and by the time the other artist quit and it was only me cranking out all the artwork until I got my friends onboard too, they gave me the lead position based on how much additional work I was doing. hehe Quote
FrieChamp Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 FrieChamp: hehe, does Baden-Württemberg look anything like that? Never been there, but I imagine it like that Quote
