marque_pierre Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 For Nightwatch I working on some textures. Hi tech labs, oh yeah, we all have played in them to death, but what do they really look like? Anybody got some reference images? Quote
JynxDaddy Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 Depends on what is done in the lab, the problem with games is most the time its just a 'generic' lab. An example of a good lab is Klieners Lab in HL2, although its really messy which helps fill the room with detail, the little teleporter in the corner added so much to that scene. The printer thing spewing out data, all the computers. And that big orange liquid tank? What the hell is that. Oh yeh this is Texture / 2d Art ..... it had good textures too. Quote
marque_pierre Posted September 9, 2005 Author Report Posted September 9, 2005 Thanks for the suggestions. This is some high energy abnomal physics kinda lab, as far as I could gather. Well, Nightwatch seems to be very much alive to me. But I wouldn't mind becoming mythical too, so... a myth it is then. Quote
Section_Ei8ht Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 I hope what happened to Diakatana doesnt happen to Nightwatch. Quote
marque_pierre Posted September 10, 2005 Author Report Posted September 10, 2005 I hope what happened to Diakatana doesnt happen to Nightwatch. *Gulp!* Quote
D3ads Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 I am useless at tech stuff, which is annoying because I need some Doom3-esque looking walls and stuff for part of a level set set in an underground lab, you can't photosource the bastard things if they don't exist in the first place :/ Quote
Hipshot Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 I hope what happened to Diakatana doesnt happen to Nightwatch. Actually, the name is Daikatana, John Romero's Daikatana, and that was a great game. Quote

Belgarion Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 I only played the demo, but I enjoyed it. Everybody seems to hate it though. Quote
Campaignjunkie Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 I played the real thing - my friend got it for his birthday as a cruel joke. It wasn't that bad, but it clearly wasn't good either. Some nonsensical design decisions (stupid sidekicks, save gems, shooting mutant frogs with guns for a whole level) were particularly glaring. From what I heard though, the 3rd portion of the game n Europe was supposed to be quite good, assuming you can play it long enough to get there. Quote
Section_Ei8ht Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 I'm not saying Daikatana was a bad game. I thought it was worth playing through. What I'm saying is that Daikatana was hyped up to all hell and featured delay after delay after delay. When the game finally came out, it was build on the Quake II engine at the time of the Quake III engine. Fans were dissapointed because it looked dated and did not live up to its hype. The general concensus was that it sucked. I'm not saying it sucked. I'm just saying lets hope that that does not happen to Nightwatch. Maybe its just me, but I'm detecting similar patterns in the development of Nightwatch and Daikatana. Quote
