Erratic Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 My earliest memories are of the Coleco Vision. Flashes of Lady Bug, some Smurf game, and Pacman are the things that first come to mind. And, naturally, followed by more vivid recollections of the NES, but the first experiences I always remember are of that forgotten console. Can't recall the exact moment that started it, the seed was planted early. Quote
Steppenwolf Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Asteroids deluxe on my cousins Atari 7800. Started mapping with Duke 3d. Quote
Alf-Life Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Started mapping with Duke 3d. I always wanted to but Build's 3D view never worked for me! And of course I didn't have/know the interweb well back then so couldn't 'fix' it. This: That title screen is so ace, and makes you feel much more stealthy than actually playing the game. I only found out about 5 years ago that you could 'open' some paintings as secret doors. D'oh, no wonder I never got to the last level. Quote
Thrik Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 The earliest game I can really remember playing was one of the Dizzy games. I had them all, so I forget which came first. Such a beautiful game. ;( Quote
this is the clown Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 The earliest game I can really remember playing was one of the Dizzy games. I had them all, so I forget which came first. Such a beautiful game. ;( Yeah Dizzy was probably one of the first games I can still remember the title of. Think the first one I got was the stand alone Amiga version of Spellbound Dizzy absolutely massive, I really wished Dizzy had a save option sometimes! The Amiga was when my first remember able gaming experiences happened; it was a big step for me going from a commodore vic-20 where a free game with a magazine would be 10 pages of code! To my 500+ Other than Dizzy I played Lemmings, Sensible Soccer (SWOS), Another World and various other games that I’ll probably remember and edit this post! Then after that Goldeneye and Blood introduced me to the joys of FPS Multiplayer. Quote
Smokey21 Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Earthworm Jim started it for me. Tony Hawk 3 on the gamecube though, with the build a park thing set me off in to level design believe it or not. It wasnt "mapping" but I always wanted more after that and when I got a computer, Call of Duty and Radient got me started in real level design. Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 i remember play math blaster when i was really little, i remember creeping down the stairs in my pajamas to see what my dad was playing when i was supposed to be in bed, and thus i played wolfenstein, doom, duke, hexen, heretic and stuff when they were modern i guess those started it. my first mapping ever was with duke 3d, you got an overhead grid and moved a little square around with your arrows and pressed spacebar to place a dot, it was very basic yet very effective. oh the strip clubs we made Quote
NomaD Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Super Mario Bros started it all for me. Then my grandpa got a pc then it was all about doom 1 Quote
D3ads Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 I only found out about 5 years ago that you could 'open' some paintings as secret doors. Grin Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 My fucking god..you guys didn't know about the secret shit? Btw. if you fly through one of the walls with noclip in the first level, you can find an elevator that takes you to the double minigun fella. Ontopic: Diddiddi Diddiddi Diddididi, Di Diidi Did, Did, Didiidy. Quote
Sixsixone Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 Golden eye. I was late. Edit: I lied! Alex Kid on the master system~~ Same as me...I never did complete that. I always died trying to free my brother from the castle. Quote
ReNo Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 I had always enjoyed playing games, but I think I really became a gamer when I opened the box of my new Amiga 500+ and started playing the 3 bundled games - Bart vs. the Space Mutants, Captain Planet (yeah, thats right), and....you know I really can't remember the other one. Thankfully I had a good source of games at that point despite my measly available funds, so I soon got into some better games like Civ, Dune 2, and Monkey Island. Quote
