and i cant help to laugh, not for the situation but for the police "exuse". And Ive also (with risk of sounding racistic) notice that most of the people you see (in this case all people in the video) are black, I dont know the % of blacks in that area so I would leave it at that, and I've also point out that this is just something i reflected about and its no need to lock the topic.

As I understand it, most of the people "left behind" were black and poor. They had no money or ways to get out of the area, so they had to stay.

Im kinda twisted in the situation, one side of me understands that the poor people who lost the little they owned wants new stuff. The other side is upset over how they just think that it belongs to them. maybe RIIA will use this in thier anti-wares campain ?

keep in mind you only see what the news papers, telvision etc shows.

have you been at that place and have you seen that only Black people were looting?? I think the movies on the internet etc only show black people stealing and white people ' finding ' food etc.

I've seen pictures of "scavengers" carrying off plasma TV's, dvd players, all the shiz electronics, even a small toy electronic car for todlers. If they put the ingenuity into stealing this stuff without destroying it you'd think they would be able to put that smarts into getting out of a city by stealing one of the hundreds of school busses and govermnet vehicles that were left behind to rott. If the local government had acted like their field manual told them too though, there would be no poor black victims because all of the government vehicles that are now rotting, would've hauled them out (or at least 50,000 people).

I've seen pictures of a number of ex-marines who patrol their neighborhoods with loaded weapons looking for looters and are shooting them on sight. Hell yeah! Get caught with anything but food and water and you should be shot. Harsh, but this is a disaster, not a free shopping day.

An amusing picture even showed an ex marine offering shotgun shells to the national guard lol.

Yeah, it's real. But the AP has consistently labeled *anyone* taking stuff from stores as looters, to me it seems the AFP are automatically forgiving the whites and therefore more biased.

I understand the "looting" for necessities like food and water, maybe dry clothes so you don't get sick and all. But people picking up microwave owens and tvs is just bit over the top. Guy hauls a tv out and remembers "oh, right, my house was destroyed on the hurricane and I have so food, well atleast I don't miss the rerun of M.A.S.H."

I'm not taking the looters' part, but I have more understanding for their actions then someone murdering another human beeing.

Evert, I'm sorry, but I just can't respect people who don't respect human life, I don't believe that anyone here is such a cold hearted person that he would rather kill a guy than let him loot a fucking store.

I agree that looting peoples homes is just plain wrong, but ripping off some wall-mart or something is not something worth killing for.

And taking a life, to me is the ultimate crime, especially in situation like this, a guy carrying a tv from a store and some wacko comes and shoots him. There is no bigger crime than that.

But hey, like you said, a free country, people should be free to kill people with minimal penalty, WHERE IS THE FREEDOM TO LIVE IN THERE!

I can understand the looters, there are no insurance or social security to take care of you after this is over, you are on your fucking own. And for the big stores that get looted (not sure abot the smaller ones tho), insurance will cover most of their losses, and I don't think that a big chain will go belly up if one of it's stores is looted.
