mike-0 Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 Phantasy Star Online for dreamcast. I remember going on "quests" for hours on end. I played alot of that. Quote
marque_pierre Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 Getting Half Life 2 kinda introduced this thought of "when can I play it next?" to my life. Haven't been that involved in a story in a game since playing Icewind Dale. This summer was lost to World of Warcraft, when I should have been learning ZBrush and Maya. I am not gonna renew my subscription now, since my masters degree is coming up. That would just spell disaster. But a lot of older games still have this magic to this day, where you know if you start a game, it is gonna be 4 in the morning very soon. The kings are still Civilization, Alpha Centauri, Pirates! and Heroes of Might and Magic III. Actually that Sid Meier really masters that style of "just one more turn" games design... Other than that, the Age of Empires/Mythology games probably own entire years of my life... Quote
Campaignjunkie Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 Sid Meier's Civilization 2, mostly the "early game" where you have to expand like crazy in order to have a fighting chance. Then it's a race to switch to a Fundamentalist government to crush the other players!... But I didn't care too much for Alpha Centauri or Civ 3 though, a little too complicate for my tastes. Quote
marque_pierre Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 Hoestly though my hours in hammer, unrealed, max, and photoshop far exeed my gaming time =( which is a sad thing because I need to know games to build games. Come on von*ferret, now you are just giving all of us WoW addicts a guilty conscience. But you are right though, gotta know games to make them, but sometimes making them can be a lot more fun than playing them. Photoshop is my comfortable home planet, with 3ds Max being a recent addition to my solar system. Quote
Kosmo Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 I myself enjoy alot seeing my model scooting down dangerous hallways in a game, it just beats everything hands down, no game can produce that feeling of achievement. Quote
Zacker Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 Lol yeah nothing betas getting a frag in your own map or game:) Quote
Alf-Life Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 The Pro Evolution Soccer games - I loved the ISS ones on the '64 but this is just perfection. Quote
SonicDM Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 I can name a few games that have wrecked my social life. first one that i really just sat down and plyaed straight through was mafia. that was a bad idea like 18 hours of playing. and of course the counter-strikes and dod's did the rest of the damage. Mojo Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 those that said Civilization are most definately correct. I can play that game forever due to its "Just one more turn" mentality. Pirates is cool, though it does get more of the same, but it is a fun time waster Quote
KungFuSquirrel Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 Master of Orion/Moo2. Alpha Centauri sucked me in, too. Quote
Kreigore Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 Right now its WoW, and Ive been playing it so much I cant remember what I played before it Quote

Duff-e Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 counterstrike stole 2 years of my life 2 years i'll never get back other games: red alert 2, battlefield 1942 it was gateway gaming from one to the other....each more addicting than the last Quote
