MrH2o Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=187&type=mov 1) The map 2) The bullet holes in cars 3) The Heli model 4) The good looking explosions (yes i know its CGI) 5) The HUD on the bazookas or tanks or whatever I'm not saying the current bf2 is bad or anything, but its quite funny how they advertise it. RD Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 6) why does the jet pilot say "target in sight... SIERRA HOTEL!" when he destroys the tank? Quote
Johnny Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Isn't the map 'Strike at Karland' or whatever? I don't think theres any helicopters in that map though Quote
Zacker Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Uhm to me the video looked like an advert for some Nintendo DS game?! Quote
Mazy Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Thats a pretty old trailer (first one released if I remember correctly), they were probably still toying around with alot of ideas for balancing like black hawks with missles and such. And the map is basically made up of the default middle eastern building meshes thats in the final game. Looks like a variation of Mashtuur (with the mosque n stuff). But the most interesting thing about that trailer is that the cars on the street dont look totally wrecked, they look drivable (ala Desert Combat). That apparently something they're doing for the Special Operations addon, would've been nice in regular BF2 :G Btw there goes my 2000th post Quote
JynxDaddy Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 Its an E3 trailer, I'm suprised it looks anything like BF2. Quote
OL Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 crazy how we all swooned over the graphics in videos like that... Game turned out looking so much better and its now on par with most new games. Quote
GrayFox Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 The physics are still a lot cooler in that trailer. Quote
user Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 6) why does the jet pilot say "target in sight... SIERRA HOTEL!" when he destroys the tank? radio phonetics... Quote
Kosmo Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 6) why does the jet pilot say "target in sight... SIERRA HOTEL!" when he destroys the tank? Mostly for the same reasons they say things like "Tango thirteen" even tho they are not dancing tango. Quote

Kosmo Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 yeah, they said in a press conference that they where going to have civilian vehicles on the battlefield Oooh, how much I love Operation Flashpoint, that game was so pimp! I'd like to see something similar on BF2, that the battlefields actually look like towns that PEOPLE ACTUALLY LIVE IN, and not those "shooting range" style villages and such that populate BF2, it looks like they are fighting on places that have been deserted for good 20 years or something, no signs that there were people before the war started what so ever. mike-0 Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 the lightmap scale is lower in the real game, even with highest settings i hate when game companies do that kind of shit in their trailers Quote
DD Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 If you look at a lot of the earlier screenshots of BF2 it appears to look much better than the released game. I think what happened was Dice was expecting to release an awesome game about a year from now, however EA being their publisher quickly shut that down, made the game crappier so it can run on more current machines and so they can ship it as soon as possible.
