Alf-Life Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 The movie's about American politics. I believe the original book by Heinlein was about Fascism. Did anyone else notice the (unintended since the movie was first) parallels between the capture of the Brainbug and the capture of Sadam as portrayed in the media? I haven't downloaded the demo yet, does it 'feel' good? Does it have that good FPS feel, or does it feel a bit ropey? Quote

I haven't downloaded the demo yet, does it 'feel' good? Does it have that good FPS feel, or does it feel a bit ropey? the movie is still about fascism. Its a satire of the political system in the book. In the movie everything is done to make the fascist reign look pleasant and appealing (for example by having the main characters be the upper class of society, ken and barbie, the hilarious propaganda movies). They are fighting the mindless communist bugs. But when the soldiers with their weak armor and squad tactics are completely slaughtered it turns out even they are noting but mindless drones of an extremist society. In the end of the movie we see that even the bugs have a culture and feelings ("its afraid"), making us realise they are in fact not very different from us. Even saddam has feelings Quote
Alf-Life Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Yeah I know, I just didn't want to offend the Americans on the board. Don't forget the Nazi-style uniforms the Earth forces end up wearing... the SS-esque trenchcoat worn by Casper Diem's psychic friend. Quote

Alf-Life Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Ironic because Denise Richards is the only one not to get them out in that film. Still, you can always buy Wild Things on DVD... Quote
