FMPONE Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) Unfortunate that you can't use normal maps and proper lighting on these meshes, but still looks cool. I had some time to spend on stuff for my udk scene: it's got really awesome style. I like it a lot. my only criticism is the "boxiness" of it, which prevents it from looking as fun as it could. maybe some of the planks could be displaced or chipped or more visibly crooked, with more stuff going on around them Edited December 4, 2012 by FMPONE penE 1 Quote
penE Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 (edited) Yeah, you're totally right, silhouettes are quite weak atm. Gonna work on it when I've got some more time. Edited December 6, 2012 by penE Quote

tomdon Posted December 19, 2012 Report Posted December 19, 2012 Working on some bespoke stairs for a L4D map, not finished so there are some dodgy bits. Quote
Dejavo Posted December 21, 2012 Report Posted December 21, 2012 (edited) Just finished a one week school assignment: Weapon of choice, 1024*1024 textures max 3000 tris. Went as follows. Sry for bloated presentation and logos and shizzles. Oh btw, I could use some crits on my edge flow. I tried to look at 3Dnjs shotgun wireframe to get an idea of where to put them edges. But there's probably room for optimization. Edited December 21, 2012 by Dejavo FMPONE 1 Quote
Puddy Posted December 22, 2012 Report Posted December 22, 2012 It looks good man. Especially considering it's your first gun (right?). Quote
NeilJones313 Posted December 22, 2012 Report Posted December 22, 2012 Something random I was working on the other day Quote
D3ads Posted December 23, 2012 Report Posted December 23, 2012 Man you guys never cease to amaze me, so much awesome on this page! Quote
Dejavo Posted December 23, 2012 Report Posted December 23, 2012 Thanks Pudzzor. Yes it's my first gun. Chainsaw: Thanks for the crits. I agree with all of them. The plastic sure looks a bit to mint. A guy in school joked it reminded him of a leather gucci pattern. Poor material definition. Good job with your shotgun. Really digging how the specular works on that wood. Did you model from a reference? I wonder if that grayish coating on the knife blade is in your reference if there is one. Quote
Chimeray Posted December 23, 2012 Report Posted December 23, 2012 (edited) Haven't modeled anything in ages (last attempt was a railgun some year ago but that was a bit too ambitious I'm afraid). Felt the 3D bug and had a free day in between holiday celebrations so I pretty much modeled non stop from noon till evening (ridiculously long for this :/) I really like swords but didn't wanna spend time designing anything so I just went for the "Elucidator" from Sword Art Online. So, here it is. Still needs some tweaks, some proportions seem off. I think I know what it is but crit away! Just testing a high poly, not gonna bake & texture... having enough issues as it is, the wires are a total mess. Anyways.. pretty happy with it so far even though it took me far longer than expected. Gonna wrap things up when I have the time over the next days. Edited December 23, 2012 by Chimeray Quote
Seldoon182 Posted December 23, 2012 Report Posted December 23, 2012 (edited) I've found this render with a better work on metal imho. I dunno know if this could help u Chainsaw. Edited December 24, 2012 by Seldoon182 ChA1NsAw 1 Quote
RedYager Posted December 23, 2012 Report Posted December 23, 2012 That Lee Enfields texture is incredible, the metal has such a convincing machined look to it Quote
Seldoon182 Posted December 24, 2012 Report Posted December 24, 2012 Your wooden base texture is awesome! But I feel you can really improve with that metal texture. I share you a ref pic to get you inspired. Even if that metal looks too much redish imo you can get a closer look to see there is less scratchs than yours and smaller sleek details. Looking forward to see your stuff updated. Great work btw ! Quote
