mjens Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Clip ready. I have some ideas for more details but I'll model it later, now it's time to finish the gun! Quote
knj Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 looking good, while doing the rest of the gun, put some more details on it, now the clip/mag is too deteailed comparing to rest imo Quote
knj Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 I've spend some time to make it better, but still i have feeling that smth is wrong, some tips guys ? Quote
-HP- Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 knj, I'd love to hear your workflow on that thing. How did you started? Quote
knj Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Not much to say Basically, there are 2 cylinders connected, a cube on top, and cylinder as a column. I've started with half of one cylinder, i've cut faces to make details, extruded a connection and mirror it to get the shape of a capital (top part). Next i've moved down to make the detailes below and make all the other details The column itself is really a cylinder with some cuts in it. Hope it is clear, i assume it is looking ok ? Quote
-HP- Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Yeah man, that's a pretty cool high poly! Quote
S.W.A.T.Y Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 I made a short animation of the sunset in 3ds max. It took around 3 hrs to render 150 frames. Quote
dissonance Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 and the next thing, only the mesh but it is modular Reminds me of Freelancer; me gusta! Quote
TermInator525 Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 yeah, a bit. Its funny how everyone thinks different about the design and why it looks how it looks. Star Wars, Star Trek, Homeworld, Battlestar Galactica, Mass Effect and even Stargate. Btw. the current Spacestation with Textures (Spec, Bump, Diffuse)looks like this (rendered in 3ds max) Quote
Pericolos0 Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 hehe it just looks like current day ISS modules to me . Would be nice if you would vary them up a bit. Throw in some versions with different sized shapes Quote

Mr. Happy Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 Well the front view of the spaceship looks like a ferengi (star trek) ship for sure. @knj I think the spirals look weird because they are thin flat ribbons that spiral many times instead of a broader shape with a few cools, and the spaces end up being thin and deep. compare with these ionic columns: Ionic columns: in comparison to real ionic columns yours is more dizzying and broad with deeper channels Quote
S.W.A.T.Y Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 This is a fire simulation that I made in 3ds max using FumeFX. Quote
knj Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 Mr. Happy thanks for a feedback, it will help :-) but i've seen so many pic's of columns and i can say that there are LOADS of different variations of columns, i used ref where the spirals are the same thickness all the time Quote
