ultradr3mer Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 here is a wireframe. it uses 5342 Triangles. i think your model is good but the texture on the armor is a bit boring. you should try giving the shells more of a highlight, like you would do in te goog old days, and add some warp on the normal map. here are some examples: i also did this but barely visible: i baked it from the high poly, instead of painting it. http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/1/15 ... _super.jpg Quote
ElectroSheep Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 Next step for my dragon statue, 3540 tris and 2 diffuse 1024*1024 + 2 normal map 1024*1024 + a specular mask. This is rendered in Max because I don't have a good quality in UT3, need some more train to have a decent material on it :/ Of course, I'll put a lampe on his hand after that Quote
ultradr3mer Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 the dragon sems to have the same texture as the rocks, i think mainly because the specular is so similar. Quote
-HP- Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 that's waaaay better than the first time i tried to make a rock statue! Can we see the wires? Quote
ElectroSheep Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 okay ! I'm actually working on the materials, and the result is just like shit. I think I need more time on Ut... Quote
-HP- Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Nice usage of tris, did you use an automatic retopo like Decimation? Quote
ElectroSheep Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 I used decimation to get a cheap mesh that I can open with max and 3D coat (my computer doesn't like millions of tris lol) but I used 3D coat to do the retopo manually Quote
kab Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Hello. First time on new account. I've been browsing for a while in this thread and there's a lot of good stuff. I finally had the time to learn how to model, so I went through a few tutorials and gave the lamp in the livingroom a go: No texture, just colors. Also it's got waaaaay too many polys edit: need tips on good tuts for unwrapping and texturing(3ds max / photoshop), anyone? Quote
