Pericolos0 Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 Hey everyone, I did this model yesterday as a little test with 3dcoat, a weird alien plant of some sort =). I'm really really liking 3dcoat because of the voxel editing and nice retopo tools. Really liking the workflow of putting together a shape with the voxel tools by merging premade meshes, turning it into quads and then use that for a base to sculpt... I've been doing more experiments like this at work but i cant show those unfortunately =). Its a very simple shape, but this workflow can be applied for so much more complex stuff! The diffuse is crappy, but this took about 40 minutes in total to do! I'm thinking of getting a license for it, it's not that expensive =) Quote
Jenn0_Bing Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 Looks like a neat program. I like your quick model too, looks like something from spore . Quote
Zeta Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 Neat Peri. Fancy doing a quick walkthrough? Quote
jister Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 yeah looks good, i saw it been used for defining texture blends as well. looks like a very straight forward program. will give it a try later. Quote
bitmap Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 yo peris. that quadrangulate step in the pic you posted. is that a function of 3dcoat, or you made a retopo of the basemesh by hand? Quote
jister Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 hey my first time baking a normal from z-brush to a low poly max model. Quote
Punky Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Looks great Jis! His ear looks a bit flat on the final result (left) but other than that, really nice! Quote
Pericolos0 Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 yeah looks good, i saw it been used for defining texture blends as well. looks like a very straight forward program. will give it a try later. yeah it's a function of the program, it works really well. Obviously some parts of the model are more dense than others but it works well enough to sculpt on! Quote
ultradr3mer Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 *wrong thread this is a level* another little room i made. im planing a city underground as you probably guessed. this is the outside for now. but atm im focusing on the inside. if i dont find a better use it will be a rollplay map for garrysmod, or somthing like that. Pampers Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 just drop or tone down the industrial parts and you have a nice style going on Quote
ultradr3mer Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 the porblem is thet almost all "human" hl2 textures are industrial, and i dont even know whith what textures I could replace it. Quote
2d-chris Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 don't worry too much about the setting IMO unless you actually have means to change it Quote
Zeta Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Did some polypainting experiments in Zbrush today. Quote
JeanPaul Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Would it be insulting if I said it looks like a poop I took the other day? HONKS Quote
