Hipshot Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Fortress Forever will never be a good replacement for a real TF, its just like those other Fortress' Unreal Fortress, Quake 3 Fortress etc etc, they just don't hold the same quality when it comes down to game play and I'm sure valve will announce a TFSource some time, maybe after Aftermath. I wish I had your amazing ability to review a game without playing it. Its statistics. And everybody knows that, if valve release a TFSource, Fortress Forever will vanish behind it. Quote
JynxDaddy Posted August 26, 2005 Report Posted August 26, 2005 I enjoy DoD, if it looks good and is like DoD, I will play DoD:S. Quote
ginsengavenger Posted August 26, 2005 Report Posted August 26, 2005 Yeah I am looking forward to playing DoD again. I do appreciate the focused gameplay as opposed to the wide-open incohesive play styles that seem to be popular these days. But frankly those screens they posted in the Steam update not too long ago were pretty laughable. Quote
FrieChamp Posted August 26, 2005 Report Posted August 26, 2005 I've had a good break from WW II shooters and wouldn't mind to play a multiplayer one again. But I agree with ginsen, the screenshots were embarassing and I don't know what gameplay changes they will make which would justify a purchase. Quote
Izuno Posted August 26, 2005 Report Posted August 26, 2005 yeah i don't know what the deal was with those recent screens, but personally I am very excited about it. I haven't released an official dod map in over a year and I can't wait to get back to it once the source version comes out. Sure, dod may not be for everyone anymore, but I still play it with on a really good server with a great community of players. That's more important to me than newer gameplay tech in recent games like BF2 etc. Sure, newer games are great, but I'll always be interested in DoD. Anyway, the beta has been pretty limited, but the sound design and the physics are pretty cool, more interesting than in cs:s (IMHO) even though I actually like CS:S cause I hadn't played CS in so long. Kosmo Posted August 26, 2005 Author Report Posted August 26, 2005 I haven't seen the screens you guys are talking about, but my guess is that they look prettymuch like the old DoD since I have seen some screens way back. But I think DoD:S release is taking so long because they are not making a port they are prettymuch making it again, so I guess they are going to change some of the graphics too. But I don't care about graphics, DoD is all about the shooting, and the hiding and capturing flags or blowing things up, and that is what makes it so great. All I want is better vegetation to hide my MG. Quote
this is the clown Posted August 26, 2005 Report Posted August 26, 2005 Are the latest screens the one featuring the sourced up dod_donner? (Probably spelt that hideously wrong, it was the re-make of thunder anyway ) As I didn't think they looked that awful, admittedly a little plain looking and by no means mind blowing, but still solid looking enough for my eyes. But I did enjoy playing DoD, just hoping that playability converts over to the source engine and the return of bandages wouldn't go a miss! Quote
JynxDaddy Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 I now have faith. (sorry if I hurting people with low res) Quote
Kosmo Posted August 27, 2005 Author Report Posted August 27, 2005 Fuck man, I just crapped my pants, that is more than I expected, it's gorgeous! Quote
Taylor Swift Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005 I'm waiting for dod: source. the maps looks detailed and i like the new player models. Have to try it. Quote
Zacker Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005 The detail props going through brushes, overbended roofs and the missing texture alignment on the wall in the back are all annoying to look at:/ Quote

kleinluka Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005 Let's be honest, it is better looking than what a big part of our "moaners" here would be able to pull off. Quote
