Kosmo Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 I have been patient, impatient and everything in between, waiting for DoD:S to be released, I was a long time member of several clans back in the day, most fondly remembering back the days of beta 1.3 before they changed the whole concept, but after that I still was in several clans, even had one of my own DoD:S might just be as important release as NS:S will be to me, but how important is it to you? Discuss! Quote
spacer Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 I want it for the models and textures, plz . Quote
Hipshot Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Team Fortress Source will be more important to me. Quote
Kosmo Posted August 25, 2005 Author Report Posted August 25, 2005 Team Fortress Source will be more important to me. You mean the mod or the actual TF2 that Valve makes? Since I don't think they are going to make a source port from TFC because they are doing the TF2. Quote
Thrik Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Fortress Forever is my most anticipated mod. I always liked Day of Defeat, but a remake of TFC for Source by people who actually know was TFC was all about pushes far more of my buttons. Quote
Mazy Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Ill play it when its released, but I couldnt possibly care less about it. Day of Defeat was fun to me a very long time ago, but I think Ive moved on. Quote
csharp Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 i am waiting dod:s, but i have just the retail hl2 :/ im not going to buy silver just because dod:S Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 dod:s will be not free, so for me it s out of question Quote
Kosmo Posted August 25, 2005 Author Report Posted August 25, 2005 Quote from Dod forums, to clarify some retail dod:s questions. Retail version (store bought) version of HL2 does NOT include DoD:S If you bought a copy of HL2 in a store, you do not automatically get DoD:S once it is released. This goes for all versions, including the collectors edition. DoD:S is only available for free on release to those who bought the Silver or Gold packages via Steam. What! This is an outrage! I paid $XXX for HL2! I demand DoD:S! The store versions of HL2 were duplicated, packaged and distributed by Vivendi who had the publication rights for HL2 and CS:S only. These rights did non include DoD:S which is why it is not availble with the retail version. How do I get DoD:S when its released then with a retail/store version? Retail users will be able to add DoD:S to their Steam package for a nominal price when it is released. As of yet we have no word on what that price will be. However, it won't be the same price as a full Steam Silver subscription and probably a lot less than buying it as a retail game. But DoD:S is a mod! It should be free! DoD:S is not a mod, in fact DoD hasn't been a mod since beta 3.1. The mod was bought by Valve and as of 1.0 (when it was available in stores), it became a commerical, stand-alone product. It is now a game in its own right and not an add-on. DoD:S will cost something, but it can be bought separately. Quote
skdr Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Ooh Kosmo likes DoD :-) DoD:Source is awesome, atleast the ~5months old beta is. There's some HUGE stuff going on behind the scenes. DoD will change, bigtime... The release is actually closer than you guys think Can't wait! Quote
kleinluka Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Can't say I really care all that much TBQH. But it's gonna be nice to see what they did with the original maps. Quote

st0lve Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 bleh at NORMAL shop costs I guess I won't be playing it then, cause I'd hate to actually BUY dod. Quote
Zacker Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 DoD was a really great game once, back in the times with beta 1-1.3b. After that it was still an ok fun mod, but nothing really special. I will wait with judging DoD:Source until I have tried it. It might be a game which I am going to use some time on, but it is also very possible that I will drop it after a few hours of play. Quote

Well if you rated that transition huge, then yes. DOD:S will change alot gaming elements and I'm sure it will get mixed reviews from oldschool DoD players... To me, september sounds unrealistic.
