D3ads Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 http://halflife2.filefront.com/file/Hal ... pack;46266 Blimey, those meshes are huge Anyone know how big the regular ones are? Quote
Pericolos0 Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 ha nice, they better have normal mapping and stuff on there Quote
curman Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 i think it all looks like crap, it looks like the females were dampered with makeup, even though hl2's setting seems to be a rough-enviroment without that crap. look at mossman's mesh: hi can you say fucking slut. the only pratical use is for fgts to make more sexual poses with now hi-res slut models, and what the hell.. it's not even THAT high res, look at Walther's mesh, it's blurry all over, it looks like he took original and stretched it out. Compared to the other one above, it looks like he took 10 seconds on it, and spend a lifetime to make some glammed up hooker. Quote
mikezilla Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 yeah these aren't too impressive to me either... alot of different pixel density hackery going on. also, why is alyx scarlett johansson? Quote
curman Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 mikez: for that fgt can beat off to it Quote
Zacker Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 I think the skins in the first shot look very nice. Some high res skins can indeed improve the characters a lot, something which I guess most can agree on why they compare the normal g-man and the high res gman in HL2. Quote
D3ads Posted August 22, 2005 Author Report Posted August 22, 2005 The two citizen skins (the black guy being the most impressive) are awesome, perhaps a vision of what we could expect to see in HL3? Quote
Steppenwolf Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 To be honest i dont like them. Alyx was much cuter with the old skin. Looking at the meshes i get the impression that a photoshop newbie just stretched some high res magazine photos over the old skins. If atleast they would fit the atmosphere of hl2 more and wouldnt have the strong lighting and makeup ... Quote
Kosmo Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 The two citizen skins (the black guy being the most impressive) are awesome, perhaps a vision of what we could expect to see in HL3? That would be most disappointing, even UE3 can do better than that. But then again, if HL3 will be another resource wise game like HL2 then it just might be true. Quote
st0lve Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 Way to photoskinned, and I hate photoskins. Quote
D3ads Posted August 22, 2005 Author Report Posted August 22, 2005 Yeah but I mean cmon, those citizen skins are fantastic, if anyone says they're shit then I'd love to see you do better! I agree that the others are kinda shit though just a tad.. Quote
PhilipK Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 dont like too much. various quality on those as well.. Quote
Kosmo Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 Well ok, let me be the first one to say, they are ok, they are not great, but they do the job. But they don't fit to HL2 that well, because the body models and textures are way too low quality as it is, and the surroundings too, so they jump out too much. They do horrible job on keeping everything uniform. Quote
D3ads Posted August 22, 2005 Author Report Posted August 22, 2005 Oh yeah that's a mute point (huzzah.. Vlad would be proud..), but I meant as a head model and skin by itself it's pretty good, I'd never bother to actually use those in HL2 because it would look silly and kill the atmosphere. Perhaps he will work on enhancing all of the content.. only 3.998GB to go.. Actually that would be insane, the game would be like 10GB Quote
